Oh No, Ed Jew!: Speedy Trial

Speedy trial? Say it fast: OhNoEdJew!

At yesterday's hearing, residentially-challenged Supervisor Ed Jew's legal team went against conventional criminal defendant wisdom, and requested an early trial. The trial could go as early as October of this year.

Ed Jew's state criminal attorney (as opposed to his federal criminal attorney and his state civil attorney) Bill Fazio, who ran for DA and lost to Kamala Harris, says he wants a trial to exonerate Ed as soon as possible, and says that his other opponent for DA, Terence Hallinan, didn't live in San Francisco either. Hey, where does Bill Fazio live?

In other coverage, C.W. Nevius recovers from his poor performance on the US citizenship exam to give us his rambling thoughts on Ed's case (to wit: Ed seems to like politics), and the Chron confirmed what commenter Sweet Melissa predicted: most of the people at the pro-Ed Jew rally don't live in the Sunset. Also, we're sorry we missed the sign the Chron saw that said "Ed Jew Makes The Sun Rise Over The Sunset." Ed Jew is GOD!

Update: At today's hearing, the court set Ed's next court date for July 27, at which point a judge will decide whether there's enough evidence to proceed to trial. Also, the court gave back Ed's $135,000 bail money in exchange for his passport.

Well, I live in the Sunset...and I say run 'im out of town on a rail. Further than Burlingame, too.

>most of the people at the pro-Ed Jew rally
>don't live in the Sunset

Of course. They were all bused in from Burlingame!

C'mon Sfist, I know the joke's already been done but you couldn't mention it once...

Say it with me folks...

Ed Jew wants his trial QUICKLY!

Funny he should have Bill Fazio as his attorney. Wasn't there some controversy surrouding him in his bid against Terrence Hallinan in 1999?

Funnier still he should use Terrence as part of his defense...hmm...

Way to go Ed Jew! If somebody (The Media like the Chron, Kamala Harris, Dennis Guererra) tries to hit you while you're down, don't roll over and die, come out swinging. For too long the Chron and other media have relentlessly bashed Jew. And they knew Jew couldn't defend himself because speaking out for one case (the city case) would jeopardize the other case (the fed case). I, and many others, are glad to see Ed Jew come out fighting. In the US, folks are innocent until proven guilty. That is, unless, dirty politicians and district attorneys conspire to try you in the court of public opinion and construct multiple cases to muzzle you so you can't defend yourself. If the Feds had a solid case they would have charged Jew by now for accepting bribes - esp since he's a high profile politician. They searched his interests months ago and have yet to charge him - the case is screwed up. For all those quick to jump to a guilty verdict - it seems hypocritical.

get a life guest! this guy is as guilty as your wife for marrying a moron.

;)

is it or is bill fazio wearing a terrible toupee?

Ed Jew for Mayor. W00T!

Speedy trial? Oh come on, why should he be given the shortcut to a speedy/early trial when there are people in the justice system waiting forever to get their case heard in front of a judge?

Join the line!

#8: Because it's going to be flipping high-larious and we the residents of the Sunset who haven't been represented deserve at least to be entertained? :)

The sun is rising
The west is Ed...

Gee, so SFist is also jumping on the "presumed guilt" bandwagon as well? Disappointing...

And for all the alleged sunset residents who aren't being "represented", perhaps if you all didn't back the left wing candidates and instead reflect the diversity of the rest of the District (yes, the district continues past Andronico's!), you'd wouldn't be so catty...

Of cors, this entire drill IS left-wing politics. If you don't toe the line, you, your family, your father, your kids will all be targeted. And that's how it is. The power of the state will be used to make you quit before you have your day in court. Why? Maybe because the FBI knows more than you do and perhaps they know the case is flawed?

When Ed Jew gets exonerated, I hope he wields the mighty tort law hammer and starts suing every blockhead that presumed his guilt. Start with the angry dwarf and the big fat big mouth. Then work up to the attorneys (city and DA) for malicious prosecution. Nifong got nailed. Who's next?

Hear Hear! Beat a man down to the point of being a bloody underdog and people will start rooting for him.

Here's to the underdogs of SF politics that refuse to bow to the ultra-left-wing mafia. Go Ed!

Indict-Ed. Humilat-Ed. Incarcerat-Ed.

The variations are virtually limitless...join the fun!

Ed Jew is guilty and he knows it, furthermore, he knows that everyone else knows it. The trial isn't going to be about determining whether or not he's guilty, but the amount of punishment to be assigned. That's why he wants to get the trial over and done with as quickly (hurr) as possible.

But meanwhile, it's amusing to watch the usual contrarian cranks pretend to wring their hands over the "injustice" of it all.

"And for all the alleged sunset residents who aren't being "represented", perhaps if you all didn't back the left wing candidates and instead reflect the diversity of the rest of the District (yes, the district continues past Andronico's!), you'd wouldn't be so catty..."

Baby, be nice-I live in Parkside. Two blocks from Ed Jew's alleged residence, and at least I don't feel the need to enter my comments anonymously nor do I use key words like 'diversity' to bait my fellow commenters ... *that* is catty, my friend :)

Oh No, Ed Jew! has been the most entertaining item going on in city politics today. Love you Rita for long time, great writing style! Residence, schmesidence!

I want a TV movie! regardless of the outcome of the trial. ED would be very embarrassed and mortified if he had any moral ethics in the first place. Are there any politicians besides Matt Ferdinand Gonzalez (at least in 2003), who are ethical and moral? That's another column all by itself.

gottacluesf

Ed Jew is pure scum. He lied his way into office, cheating legitimate Sunset candidates out of a fair chance, then wasted no time using his ill-gotten Supervisor post to start enriching himself by taking bribes. All of that would have been pretty standard-issue sleazy politics, but then his desperate bullshit tactic to play the race card, coupled with his laughably transparent efforts to get his friends to stage fake protests and lie about seeing him at his "home" in San Francisco is beyond the pale. This guy is pure lying scum, as is anyone defending him who tries to turn this into a race issue. I hope this bastard goes to prison. If I never see his face or hear his name again it'll be too soon!

I can't wait for a trial because I can't wait to learn what other sleazy dealings T-Ed has been involved with.

It would be nice to see a feature titled "Ed Jew Sightings," in which people could report having seen our errant District 4 supe or post pictures of his meanderings about town.

I've never seen him in the outer Sunset, and the only pictures of him recently were at the Hall of Justice.

I hate it when I'm late for this party!

Hey Fed Ed!

Those people supporting you on the footsteps of the Hall...why are they mostly (99%) old Chinese folks?

Where did you find so many old Chinese folks?

Could they be from the Chinatown Mah Jong Parlors that your mom goes to?

And who wrote all those signs supporting you?

Could it be Calvin Louie and his wife?

You know it aint them non-speaking Chinese folks your mom paid to bus them there.
