when did i bring up a charitable organization to hide behind? i pointed to them as a great example of folks like yourself, doing wonderful and positive work to enrich the lives of working folk in the mission. it was a response or retort to the missionman and his attempt to derail an approved project that will bring 9 more affordable houses into the fold. what am i missing? btw, i totally disagree that affordable housing, bmr's, are being gobbled up by out of towners and that they are not a wonderful thing. here in my hood, south beach, when 88 townsend went up, people slept in cots to line up and buy all of the alloted bmr's in that building. i spoke to them often while walking my dog. they were all renting in san francisco at the time and now they are all owners.

Their site supervisor Erin, who puts every male volunteer to shame with her awesome carpentry skills, is a friend of mine. Your turn?

The whole tantrum over this site is pointless. Even if by some far-fetched margin the entitlement whiners get their way, it's not going to stop construction of market-rate housing in that neighborhood. It's inevitable. They might get six months of gentrification reprieve by stopping 3400 C.C., but not much more than that. So sorry that you'll have to share your neighborhood with people who make more than you. Maybe if less "below market rate" (BMR) housing was lived in by City Supervisors earning 140K/year, a trust fund, and city provided medical insurance for the rest of their life, there would be more for the people who actually need it.

Just have to say it--Habitat for Humanity, especially in SF, builds so very few houses. Their total output pales by comparison to other nonprofit affordable housing developers that focus on this city, like Todco, Bridge, Mercy, etc....probably even BHNC. They get by on years of positive press and a catchy mission.

mission man, all kidding aside, how about gathering all that angst and day labor talent and talking to habitat for humanity sf. http://www.habitatsf.org/ you guys could probably build 50 new houses before you could change the law for a higher percentage of affordable housing per development, which i understand and respect your interest in doing, but you have to work within the system. btw, even if you could get the money back in april, the price will now need to include all the profit seven hills would have made to avoid the lawsuit from your attempted civil act of eminent domain. not cool.

If Chris Daly has to resign then can Gavin Newsom resign too while we are at it, what about Michela Alioto Pier or you know Tom Ammimano has been on the Board of Supervisors for a while maybe he should go too. I am so disappointed when people say the solution to a problem is a politician who has to resign... What about the commentor getting out of their boxes and running for office ( I can't run. Bad knee ) The political process isn't an "only guys with money can run" (girls can do it too). If you really believe that you can do better than the people elected into office than start your campaign now, but don't do the chicken dance and say "so-so should resign" as a quick fix to a much larger problem facing residents in Metropolitan cities.

The 3400 Cesar Chavez opponents were certainly entertaining, I've never seen a bigger group of whining entitlement monsters gathered in one place. Aaron Peskin was constantly reminding them to focus their comments on flaws with the permit, since that was the thing being appealed, but most focused on reiterating tired emotional rhetoric: "Don't build a Walgreens! People will BUY THINGS!" "Don't build parking! People will USE IT!" "Don't build condos! I have CLASS ENVY!" Can't wait to see them crying into their horchata when they don't get their way. I just hope some of the more extreme drama queens don't self-immolate.

Channel 26 is pretty entertaining right now .... my favorite is "Day laborers would like stability." Right ... what is it about the term "DAY Laborers" implies a stable job you can rely on providing you funds for food, shelter, and clothing? It amazes me the number of people who want the world handed to them TODAY and who seem to believe that all the folks who are getting by okay in San Francisco just inherited wealth or somehow didn't have to sacrifice their time over many years to get to the point they're at. Go to middle America where you might be able to afford to live ... stop trying to get everything for reduced price!

Last time I checked, death threats against public officials not only were illegal, but considered hate speech in the least. I'm sorry, but it's crystal clear that suckafree has forfeited his right to comment here - at least as a registered user. If you guys don't show any backbone, I feel you will lose a great deal of respect. People who make death threats against supervisors are worse than trolls - they possibly dangerous. Still, your numbers are wrong. San Francisco's proposed budget is $6.1 billion for 750,000 people, the highest per capita spending of any city and county in the United States. By contrast, New York City has a budget of a little over $59 billion (NOT $8 billion) for 8.5 million people, 13% less per capita. And the Board of Supervisors meeting this afternoon has been quite a corker, with half the Mission arriving for public comment, and testifying they are furious with the aforementioned crooks passing out deals to their friends while screwing over every working person in town. They're still at it. If you have cable, you should check out Channel 26.
