Oh No, Ed Jew!: Plea

E to the Dizzo, J to the Ew-wo -- not guilty, we gots to feel him! Ed Jew, in an American flag tie, appeared in state criminal court today and pled not guilty to the charges of lying about his residency, but not before waving at and hugging members of a 100-deep cheering crowd outside the courthouse.

Just to remind, today's hearing was just on the charges that DA Kamala Harris filed -- the FBI is still investigating the federal criminal charges of bribery, and Jerry Brown's office is still looking into the non-criminal proceedings that the City Attorney wants to bring. Beat those charges like Rocky, Ed!

Cops want to knock me, DA want to box me in! Clip of Jay-Z's Izzo (sorry we can't find a more exciting video clip to use.)

pictures???

I can't find any good ones online yet! If you went, send 'em to us (or tag 'em SFist on Flickr) yours and we'll post 'em up! I really want to see this tie.

patriotism is the last refuge, they say.

Who ARE these people that are treating Jew like he's JFK reincarnated? Water conservationists? I seriously doubt many are D4 residents.

Wow, that tie is even more spectacular than I'd imagined! Also -- haven't we seen those rally signs somewhere before?

Ed Jew has been pushing pretty hard on the discrimination-against-the Chinese theme. Are we sure that it was an American flag tie? Picture, please!

Nothing says "individuals speaking out" better than rally signs with matching color and handwriting.

i like the 135k number reduction for the bail request. that's less than 4 more tapioca stands to extort.

;)

OMG! Tapioca Ed's checks with his Burlingame address (page 51 of Herrera's response) are Dilbert checks that say, "Hey, Buddy, What are you in for?" That's some excellent foreshadowing!!!

HEY FED ED!

I can't believe your attorney Bill Fazio went on TV and told the public, "Who wants to live in Burlingame?!!"

I bet that will really go well with your Burlingame neighbors!

By the way, I just loved your Crocodile tears. Did you have to rehearse that too?

Way to go Ed Jew! If somebody (The Media like the Chron, Kamala Harris, Dennis Guererra) tries to hit you while you're down, don't roll over and die, come out swinging. For too long the Chron and other media have relentlessly bashed Jew. And they knew Jew couldn't defend himself because speaking out for one case (the city case) would jeopardize the other case (the fed case). I, and many others, are glad to see Ed Jew come out fighting. In the US, folks are innocent until proven guilty. That is, unless, dirty politicians and district attorneys conspire to try you in the court of public opinion and construct multiple cases to muzzle you so you can't defend yourself. If the Feds had a solid case they would have charged Jew by now for accepting bribes - esp since he's a high profile politician. They searched his interests months ago and have yet to charge him - the case is screwed up. For all those quick to jump to a guilty verdict - it seems hypocritical.

Did people forget that Carol Migden, when she was supe, didn't live in SF either? People love to hit a man while he's down.
