Now we know that if we do see any more coyotes in GGP we should not tell anyone at all lest the City bring in the Feds to execute the poor creatures.

Does anyone else think it's funny that the City rarely acts so quickly about any REAL health and safety risks? Why the trigger-happiness regarding the coyotes but relative inaction when it comes to the homicide rate?

I love SFist, but I wouldn't send them any coyote sitings or photos, as it will likely just feed the hysteria and sensational coverage the coyotes have received thus far.

So a 30-pound coyote nipped a 90-pound ridgeback and for that Fish and Game shot it/them. No reports of stitches on the ridgeback, just minor injuries (hurt pride, maybe?)

Next we'll read above the fold in the Chron: Pug Snaps at Pinscher. Pomeranian Snarls at Fireman.

I once saw a coyote on the Land's End path just before the 99 steps and I had no idea what it was. It was pretty cool once I figured it out, though.

It's pretty fucking pathetic that they couldn't tranq or trap the coyotes and move them to an area* where humans haven't encroached on their habitat. No, let's just kill them, even though we have no idea if they were actually the ones that attacked the dogs in the first place.

(Yeah, I know, where the hell would that be?)

Not surprising there are Coyotes in GG Park.

While I lived in Chicago the Park District reported that there were packs of coyotes living in the park system that stretchs up and down the lake front.

If downtown Chicago has coyotes, that must have migrated in from rural Wisconsin, it is clear coyotes are adapting to an urban environment and will soon be found in most urban areas.

I'll bet you those coyotes jumped right over the BART turnstiles too. Or ran right past the tollbooths on the Bay Bridge. Damn coyotes.

Look on the bright side of life, the coyotes are probably eating feral cats.
