We got in an interesting debate about this over dinner -- which is worse? LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa screwing over his wife, or Gavin Newsom screwing over his campaign manager? Family or friends? Who ya got?

How can Gavin screwing ever be wrong?
I'm curious, Newsom used the "Mel Gibson defense" by saying he was an alcoholic and to get treatment right away to get sympathy and cover-up his "encounter" with his campaign manager.
I wonder what Antonio Villaraigosa will be using as his defense?
Note: The "Mel Gibson defense" was a joke used in a South Park Episode when Ike's (Kyle's adopted little brother) kindergarten teacher was having a relationship with him and the teacher went to the press to say that her inappropriate relationship was based on being an "alcoholic" and that she would go to treatment right away. Of course, the real Mel Gibson used the alcoholic defense to steer away from his distasteful racial comments.
Both are pretty bad ... but I gotta say that cheating on your wife is worse (apologies to Bill Clinton). Even if it has been going on for decades and everybody pretty much knows you've been cheating on your wife, shame on you for not calling it quits or at least working out an arrangement with said wife for the girls on the side.
Friends screwing over friends... that happens all the time on the east and west coast, no?
When these things happen, I'd say more blame rests on the individual who is actually in a marriage at the time (not that this lets the other party off the hook by any stretch...)

So... basically this question is expounding the old fraternity maxim "Bros before ho's" by asking "who's a WORSE victim?" What a terrible debate. Destroying a marriage is destroying a marriage, whether it be yours or someone else's. Neither could be "worse" (and by implication, the other "slighty better") than the either.
Which is the better mayor?
Villariagosa was just making some news(caster).
BTW he and Gav would make a cute couple.
I must agree with #3 here - there's no good excuse for The Gav, but at least he himself was single. Ultimately though, this will be a blip on the radar for both of them politically, albeit a larger blip for Antonio (especially if he runs for higher office).
tough, tough call, rita. i say screwing over family (or in this case, not screwing them, it seems) is worse.

People cheat...its a fact of life. But the spouse that's doing the fucking is on lower than the fucker doing the spouse.
I'm an equal opportunity stone thrower. The two screwers and the two scrrwees are equally culpable. Or to pu it in Jen Siebel's frame of reference, all are culprits.
