Three cheers for Captain Dennis O'Leary of the Southern Precinct, the DPW, the Mayor's office, and other groups involved in organizing the All-Star game - congratulations on a well-planned BIG event!

The fans around the park haven't been too bad, pretty civil around my work... but you will always get some drunken idiots at sporting events, concerts, city hall etc.

I actually am amused when an out of towner calls me or someone around me a "faggot"

It is usually followed by any local in earshot giving them an evil eye or tongue lashing.

Worth the price of admission, I tell ya.

Which receptacle would you put the leftovers from fireworks into? :)

I was just about to go to sleep last night when I started hearing the explosions of fireworks from the MLB party over at Piers 30/32 at 11PM. I went out and enjoyed the show .... might as well make the best of it, eh?

I too applaud the extra trash containers around the area. Ever see the peanut shell piles some of those ballpark guys create? oy. Now the real trick is making sure they're not overflowing with trash before they get emptied.

"Trash Only" would be a good subtitle for the "All Star Week" events.

Er, if you're meaning to say the cardboard trash boxes are environmentally good... there's a plastic bag inside each one of the boxes.

which i suppose also goes bonus if you're saying they're bad in the first place.

Considering the amount of crap normal Giants fans leave on the streets and that I work near the ballpark, I'm happy they put the things out. I just wish they'd put a few permanent ones, and then maybe the Giants fans wouldn't leave so much crap on the streets after games. (or maybe the visiting team fans crap, who knows, it's disgusting when you leave garbage on the streets regardless because there's no bin to toss it into).

I'm not surprised at all. I was downtown last night around 8pm near the metereon and a bunch of the All-Star fans were there. They were low class, undereducated, and stunningly rude. I too was called a faggot, and made fun of for wearing glasses.

Is this the "honors" bestowed upon us for hosting this game? If so I hope we pass should the chance ever come again. Who knew that the droves of MLB fans were so lacking in class?!?! I always thought Baseball was the gentleman's game. Clearly I was mistaken.

Hmmm, cardboard garbage cans. Will Newsom be using those to replace the ones that were yanked off our streets after the All Star events are over?

Don't great me wrong: I love baseball. I was raised an Anaheim Angels fan, and then almost killed my father after pledging allegiance to the Giants. I was just surprised by that remark is all seeing as how baseball fans seem, well, less aggressive than football or basketball ones.

Clearly Major League Baseball is not a supporter of SF's unique culturally diverse urban grit.
