Michela Alioto-Pier Misses Another Meeting

mapgav.jpgBueller? Bueller? Bueller? That's right, everyone's favorite supervisorial class-cutter, District 2's Michela Alioto-Pier, missed yet another committee meeting on Monday.

That's not really newsworthy in and of itself -- but what is newsworthy is that the committee meeting she missed was the one she had to be at in order to stop this water rate hike that she (and Ed Jew, who knows about water rate hikes) told everyone she was crusading against. Oops! So now there's no chance to stop the water rate hikes from going through, even though Alioto-Pier says she had a compromise worked out.

Alioto-Pier says this was due to a "scheduling mixup." How could it be a scheduling mixup? The website specifically says that her committee (Gov. Audit and Oversight) meets "every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month." Write it down in a calendar, MAP!

Picture of Michela Alioto-Pier actually at a meeting, from a 2004 District 2 community meeting with Gavin Newsom.

ha! Good point, guest/jessica! I can't find a link on the site, but I think the Board took a July 4 recess for the first week of the month.

I guess the question would be, did Michela Alioto Pier show up for any board or committee meetings last week?

Hey, now, its such a long drive in from St. Helena. You can't expect her to come into town ALL the time.

She absolutely knew about this meeting and its importance. It appears that she totally blind sighted Supv Sean Elsbernd who had the task to tell those gathered that the meeting had to be canceled.

People were big time pissed, not to mention the money wasted by dept attorneys, Susal Leal head of PUC, various other speakers etc.who were just sitting around waiting for her highness to show up.

Someone heard that "she was out of town" [in her Napa summer home???] and it was not a "schedule mix up."

She knew that the water rates would stand as the PUC set them if she missed the meeting. A stinky political passive aggressive move.

EARTH TO MICHELA: Most of us don't have second homes. Why don't you just give up your SF place and move to Napa and become room mates with Ed Jew?

She doesnt live in San Francisco, that's the word on the street.

What is it about these SF Supervisors who don't live in San Francisco?

head of the puc? is that the some person chris daly illegally appointed to spite willy brown?

Looks like they're doing a scene from Romeo & Juliet.

It's too bad sexiness doesn't make up for competence.

Did anyone else hear Michela on KQED's Forum this morning talking about Chris Daly and civility in politics? She said something about how she was so offended that Daly left the Budget hearing after his infamous speech, and that he showed disrespect to the people who came to testify. Damn, she's shameless.

Tony Hall also made an appearance where he termed Daly's cocaine comment as "an allegation, not an accusation." For you political junkies, the podcast should be up soon:
http://www.kqed.org/rss/about/

And suckafree: Adam Werbach is the PUC Commissioner that Daly appointed while he was acting Mayor. It was perfectly legal, just unconventional. And Daly didn't do it to "spite" Willie Brown, he did it to put a strong environmentalist on an important environmental commission. The City Attorney approved that appointment, but denied Daly's other appointment because Willie had already appointed the son of one of his fund raisers to that spot:

suckfree Dalyhater - I realize the Daly rage blinds most Newsomites, but Susan Leal was not the Daly appointee. She 's the former San Francisco City Treasurer. She was appointed in 2004 by...wait for it...Gavin Newsom.

It is amazing how we have gone so quickly from the political fight of the '80's: District versus city-wide Board of Supervisors elections to a situation with district Supervisors, elected under our ranked voting plan on a third or less of votes, who do not even live in San Francisco.

What is next? The new bi-coastal type politician who is an SF Supervisor AND a NYC Council member?

I am currently not anything more than the most tepid supporter of any of the current Supervisors, or the Mayor and suspect that we could do better out of the next random jury duty pool at the Hall of Justice.

Redseca2, maybe the bi-coastal politician can buy one of those market-rate condos and make friends with all the other rich out of towners who only live here a couple of weeks a year.

I guess if you become a supervisor doesn't mean you have to show up to work and still get paid? Sweet.

Those of you with claims about Michela's non San Francisco living habits, do you have some evidence? If this is true the city attorney should certainly investigate. (His staff is certainly familiar with these issues now!)

Dearest AJ [15]
"In 1995, she launched the first of three campaigns when she moved to St. Helena and ran for the First Congressional District seat, which covers Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino counties."
and
http://www.fogcityjournal.com/news_in_brief/kirshenbaum_061117.shtml
"With a nice apartment in Pacific Heights, she didn't have to give up her residence in St. Helena."
and
"She's AWOL. You rarely see her at neighborhood functions. She seldom interacts or responds to pleas to control the hospital. Does she still live here?"

Disdain for Chris Daly doesn't equate to love for Gavin Newsom .. don't be silly.

micheala ran for so many offices and lost, it's not even funny. find out where she and tom claim thier primary residence for taxes and bingo!

I can't believe she's as dumb as Ed. She shoulda just claimed Yet Another Bun In the Oven and phoned it in, while watching soaps on the couch.

now that's civil!

In the interest of maintaining true representational diversity, we as San Franciscans must DEMAND that at least one Supervisor live elsewhere than San Francisco, except of course, for Los Angeles!

I can't believe this but I am going to totally back up Michela Alioto Pier. I actually have physical evidence and an expansive history of watching SFGovTV where MAP would show up A MINUTE after the roll call b/c she had to get thru the door ( you see a long time ago I was a poli sci majorette and well its a requirement to die of boredom so I dropped that major ) anyway I would hear this ranting and raving that MAP was a no-show well yeah but if you take the time (and when I am unemployed I have LOTS of time) to read BOS minutes you will see MAP being absent for rollcall but present for all the votes including the tenancious or tenious public comment portions.

Also, she had to sit closest to the public podium and endure a lot of spit so Pesky finally moved her over to the other side.

So if Rita can't get her calendar straight how in the world is MAP's suppose to do it...

Plus, do you see Gavin going to work pregnant ...hell no he'd be all "I am pregnant I am not going to work" but, MAP showed up faithfully.

Dearest That Chick, [20]
"So if Rita can't get her calendar straight how in the world is MAP's suppose to do it..."

Because she is one of only two Supervisors on that committee. You don't think that she and the other member Supvr Elsbernd talk?

You don't think her staff knew she was supposed to be there?

You don't think she knew about the water rate process and the impending deadline?

BTW the first excuse heard in the room was "she is out of town" and then it officially changed to "scheduling mix up"

Either way, thanks to her missing the meeting, we are now stuck with unfair water rates.

I wonder how much she pays for water in St. Helena?

Okay, so Ed Jew isn't the first Supervisor to have dueling addresses.

Actually, I think Pesking and McGoldrick both own properties outside the city too. So, let me get this straight...Arron Peskin, Michela Alioto Pier, Jake McGoldrick, Ed Jew, and OH Gavin Newsom (didn't think I forget about it did ya) own property OUTSIDE city...

I think its a Throwdown between towns

As for the scheduling mixup...I don't know I hear there was a holiday and it was the Secretary's fault...wait I am a secretary too...damn I get blamed for everything! JEEz

So we all knew that Gavin prefered Brunette.
It has forced Miss insignicant Seibel to dye her bleached fro.
Things are definitely shaky as Gavin was spotted around town with different femme fatales, when she was out of town!!!!
for shame. Won't be long til it was all a faint memory
Poor ol fame seeking
Jennifer !!!!
