Yes, you probably do.

What is it going to take for us to get a Muni that works for us?

Dearest MarkBallew [10]

Non exempt employees can't be fired "just because".

Actually even exempt people need some kinda cause to be dumped, though it's a lot easier than firing a union non exempt peon.

Saw an L to Caltrain and eventually 2x K to Sunnydale & Bayshore yesterday. Methinks they've already rerouted the N, J, and T. If only they'd stop stealing L's to turn into K's.

Mattymatt:

The transit planners at Muni are non-exempt employees. They have a reason to expand their horizons and innovate in the digital age. They can't be fired, at worst they can be disciplined. How do you punish or motivate a low performer that you can't get rid of?

Mix in not caring with my career front seat to how technology works in big business, it's no shocker to me that we see word docs instead of pdfs, obscure signs instead of professional layouts, and bad translations into multiple languages.

According to Supervisor Peskin, who I heard speak at the District 3 Democratic Club's "MUNI Reform" talk on the 25th, only 72 out of the SFMTA's 5000 employees are exempt, meaning they can be fired.

So in short, I'll agree with everyone else and just say:

"Yes."

um, why would SFMTA do anything that they knew the public was already going to do? I think that their scheme is actually quite brilliant.

The people are going to piss all over whatever it is that they do, so you let the people provide, then piss on their own "interactive maps." It saves SFMTA all the work.

You say lazy - I say genius.

You say jackass with a blog - I say... shit you got me.

Thanks for the maps! Keep them coming! The Muni engineers and planners can spend more time with their families.

don't believe me? ask a cop. crime has gone through the roof since the thug third went into service.

the bayview belongs in isolation so the crime will stay black on black.

so sad.

I am just some jackass with a blog, while Muni engineers are transit professionals. Can it possibly be true that they know less about cartography and wayfinding and information technology than the random idiots on the internet?

I'm guessing they are not lazy, but just don't know how to do all of these things you suggest.
