Sounds like an interesting place to visit, with definite historical value. I've heard any of the fish sautes are also excellent. Maybe I can talk my Dad into eating the cioppino there next year for Father's Day, rather than the weak, underseasoned stuff at Cioppino's on Fisherman's Wharf. And I agree with guest. Polenta doesn't have any place in a real cioppino.

Thanks for this great review. I'm a native and have never been there precisely due to fear of fellows like skinny guy. Now will venture in, although at 4pm on a Tuesday - the best time for anything. Also bwah ha ha Yelp review bwah haha - so true. Ha.

that crusty sourdough is the old school stuff I grew up on Tadich was the spot my grandfather landed a job when he first came to this country. The founder (and my grandpa) were from the Dalmatian coast in present day Croatia. Tadich, Original Joe's, Sam's were all started by Dalmatinas

I wonder if that was the same Pissy Guy I saw last Tuesday at Rubicon. He was dramatically telling someone that unless they could find two seats for him, he was going leave immediately and never come back! When did tantrums replace slipping a cash "encouragement" to the host? Is it effective?
