No More Drama (The SF Budget)

Sorry we're late on this one! Not much to report, just that Board of Supes president Aaron Peskin has named himself the chair of the Budget and Finance Committee after firing Chris Daly from the position, and proclaimed his intent to make it a "no-drama" budget approval process this time around.

Peskin and the rest of the gang then went ahead and approved a bunch of the proposed budgets for various departments, including Rec and Parks, the City Attorney's Office, the Elections Department, and the Assessor-Recorder's Office. Did the Friends of the Urban Forest make in it?

However, the new committee is also putting $5 million on hold for public housing until the next public meeting. That'll be quite an event! Did you say "drama-free," President Peskin?

There's Mary J. Blige above, singing No More Drama live.

AMEN, for Supervisor Peskin. Let the voices of reason rejoice. Hopefully Daly will learn from getting fired, and focus on his job, and not any more theatrics.

I second that "Amen!" to the no-drama budget process.

hi y'all from nyc...

they have a 59 billon dollar budget here for 8.5 million people. why are we spending 6.1 billion for 775k?

also, they have a taxi cab passenger bill of rights, which includes, among other things, no annoying cell phone conversations by the driver or non-english speaking cabbies.

lastly, it's 1am, i just got home from a really cool bar in tribecca and i counted dozens of single women walking on the street home from wherever they were on a week night. these were not professionals.

what's wrong with our shitbag city?

i know of no neighborhood where a girl would feel safe walking at 1am by herself.

what are we doing wrong??????????

forgot to say, they also have 13,000 cabs here. how many do we have?

Wait, NYC has a 8.6 BILLION dollar budget for over millions of residents and SF has a 6.1 BILLION dollar budget for a little over 800,000 residents...

That totally proves it..absolutely! SF is funding Area 51! That explains everything from the women Gavin Newsom dates (come on like you think Genypher Seebull isn't from another planet too...she changed her hair color in like an hour) to Carol Midgen's hair ( yeah, I thought she just put her finger in an electric socket but saying she is the first human-alien hybrid makes way more sense)

Come on you don't really believe it when you read that a toliet seat for the City Hall bathroom costs $564, do you?

[5] Dearest ThatChick,

I know what you mean about Carole Migden. Her hair is SOOOO Harpo Marx.

Would you step back for a moment and think that Carol's disease treatment may affect her hair (kinda like Cancer patients lose their hair?)

Good figures

NY: 59B/8.5M = 6941.18 per person
SF: 6.1B/775K = 7870.96 per person

NY also has significantly more police per capita.

My theory is that Newsom isn't allowed to make waves with any Democratic constituency. The Democrats headquartered here are looking for votes nationwide, and spending more locally will avoid acrimony with unions and so on across the country.

Know what? SF has way more billionaires per capita than NYC as well....

Yes, the billionaires actually hire their own police in SF. "Their own police" means members of the SFPD who are moonlighting. Community policing...

shoulda seen Miggy's do back in da day, she and Babs Kaufman competed architecturally to the point I thought the chamber's ceiling might be damaged...cause for censure, methinks...

Nice try guest 7. Her hair has always looked like that. Check out this CM lookalike contest flyer circa 1993.
