Fake Question Time 6: MUNI
For those of you still a few SFist obsessions back (before Ed Jew, around the same time as Jennifer Siebel, and after the District 6 election), Gavin Newsom's Fake Question Time neighborhood lecture series is still plodding along. Even the chickens aren't bothering to show up anymore!
Anyhow, chickens or no, they've just announced this month's session (.pdf), in Aaron Peskin's District 3, and it's on everyone at SFist's favorite topic -- MUNI! It's this Saturday June 30th at 10 a.m., at the Jean Parker Elementary School on 840 Broadway (x Powell). Your MUNI buses: the 30 and the 45 are your best bets.
Here's the press release in Chinese too (.pdf), just because it's cool.

I find it fascinating they plan to take their roadshow to MUNI and think they can have a town hall about MUNI and not have people speak up.
If they do the usual Gavin-as-Host-Who-Says-Nothing and have a pack of department heads answering only questions the staff approve of, then they really should not even bother.
At least when Ross Mirkarimi did his last year, they forced people to answer real questions, and published the answers to all the ones they couldn't get to later on. Even better, Ross and others are following up on a number of broken promises, such as the fact they STILL don't have scramble signals at Irving/9th and Judah/9th.
It'd be nice to learn what plans the Mayor may have for increased pedestrian and bicycle safety - how to deter folks from driving at excessive speeds around the City. I can't attend, but I do hope someone is there from Walk San Francisco or SAN to represent concerns about something other than frustrations with Muni.
