Tom Ammiano's car in today's Pride Parade, by reader Beatrice! Thanks for letting use these, Beatrice; all these pictures are great!

Parade was OK. Did anyone see Ed Jew or Chris Daly? I had to leave early.
Did see Elsbernd, Peskin and Maxwell, Ammiano, Dufty.
Also Newsom [why was he in that ugly dark blue pinstripe suit instead of tight Levis without his shirt on?]
Speaking of Parade attire, why is it that only the most unattractive people run around naked in it?
I think that unhealthy people getting naked is caused by the same thing as special effects in awful movies: the hope that something extra-flashy will distract you from the lack of attention to aesthetics.
Another Day Around The Bay happening -- the Medical Examiner and lots of other official-looking people were pulling a body out of Golden Gate Park this afternoon, about 100 yards from the Park District Police Station where Fell turns into Lincoln... not like they were trying to keep a low profile, they blocked a whole lane of traffic while they were at it.
In truth, the weather for Pride is an iffy thing, with serious fog and arctic winds from the Pacific Ocean half the time, and exquisite weather such as today for the other half. Guess when I bother to show up. Thanks for the link, by the way.
Luke Thomas has been floating those Newsom rumors for months. Love the new witchhunt. It is okay. Glass houses. And soon a lot of broken glass.
Matier and Ross are bloodhounds, I tell you. Chris Daly and a nebulous group calling itself "the Internet" have been carefully spreading these rumors for months. No one knew!
Also, somebody got stabbed in the building at 398 Haight the other day. That's a TNDC building (not SFHA this time!). The victim didn't die, but came close.
Great Pride parade ... fun day.
Does anyone have any pictures of Ross [Mirkarimi] at the parade? Did he even attend?
I avoid all the hoopla of the parade and watch it on TV. Until today I didn't know we had access to channel 99, which broadcast the first couple of hours this morning.
It's been a treat to stay at home since local TV began airing the parade, and not deal with the tourists and crowds and enjoy some hot java and medicine without the terrible winds.
For all those who gladly part with $5 to enter the Civic Center party and corporate zones, and find your Pride, more power to you.
Nobody's forcing anyone to donate $5 at the gate to the Civic Center celebration. Everyone was welcome ....
As far as how Ed Jew got elected, I would say it was less about tiered voting and more about the way he ran a campaign that consisted entirely of "Vote Ed Jew for lower property taxes!"
This is the Sunset, it's the only issue out here.
How's about that Red Cross float?
ranked choice voting taking the run-off out of the voters hands seems to be about as effective as choices, our lottery enrollment process for public schools.
a real winner!
Chris Daly did not bother to show up at the parade. Classy Chris.
God loves gay people and makes good weather.
It makes you wonder about all those poor people in trailer parks and their tornado thing.
Re Ranked Choice Voting:. It seems to me, if you were going to analyze an election that one would have to at least consider or acknowledge the runner up. Ron Dudum took a HUGE chunk of the first choice votes. I think Dudum’s candidacy was a much bigger factor in Chan and Mak’s poor performance than their negative campaigning was. Chan and Mak did not connect to the Sunset voters the way that Dudum or Jew did. It is as simple as that. Had Chan or Mak pulled more first choice votes from Jew, we would most likely have Dudum in D4.
When Newsom got to the grandstand seating he was shaking hands with everybody along the barricades, and people behind me were running and lunging to get at him. I was three feet from him, sitting in front of the grandstands and right next to the barricades, and I can tell you that even in the suit, and even though I kept reminding myself that he doesn't answer questions the way I think he should, he looked great. I didn't try to touch him, but wouldn't have turned down an invitation to dinner and drinks.
Tapicoa's other issue was the schools, and reducing school choice. I'm not sure why he didn't run for the school board instead, but I'm sure many voters thought he would end up with some sort of school board and Supreme Court powers.
So what do folks think about Phil Ting as Ed Jew's replacement (assuming he loses his seat)? That's what was mentioned in the Examiner today ... in their "next mayor" whimsical thing.
Chris Daly was there if not in body but the spirit of those who support him.
Phil Ting is Assesor because he won a citywide election that put him there. I can't see him giving up that post to be an appointed supervisor.
CHRIS DALY WAS NOT THERE. He was too damm lazy to show up at a parade in his own district. In spirit my ass...
