SFist Photo: Panhandle Bandshell - It's On!

Yes, those are repurposed car bonnets forming the shell of our brand-new 20-foot-tall bandshell in Golden Gate Park near Oak and Clayton

The nimbies struck out on this one, so it's on with the show this tweekend and on through September. That's right, local killjoys will have to wait until next year to try to kill the joy of the bandshell idea. So, in the meantime, why don't YOU sign up and perform sometime this summer? There's room for jazz combos, classical music, spoken word, solo instrumental performances, acoustic contemporary music, vocal and choir performances, theatrical performances, children’s performances, puppet shows, and poetry readings.

It's on! Find out more after the jump.

No drums and no amps, but everything else is pretty much wide open. Did we say, "It's on!"?

Ha, NO DRUMMING. You should have posted a picture of the other poster with the colorful back-and-forth about the merits of drum circles and whether gentrification has anything to do with hating talentless white kids doing the drum circle overbite.

Are all the car hoods from the same model of automobile? I couldn't work it out.

The band shell is going to be in the Panhandle, not Golden Gate Park. Otherwise, I'm with you guys all the way!
