Oh No, Ed Jew!: Forget-Me-Nots
Good thing we've got so many awesome Ed Jew rally pictures from last week -- so we can keep you up to date on the latest on Tapioca Ed!
--Matier and Ross report that it looks like everyone's going to punt to Jerry Brown to make the final decision about whether to throw Ed Jew out of office or not over the residency issue. Update!: City Attorney Dennis Herrera has punted. Hike!
--Meanwhile, Leah Garchik gets in on the fun, reporting that a reader asked her if Ed Jew's Canton Flower Shop sells..... forget-me-nots! Ha!
--Over in the blogosphere, Left in SF reports a case of spoofing in their comments where someone claimed to be commenting under the email address ed.jew@sfgov.org (with the comment "I'm going to jail."). We've had our own issues with spoofery, so please note that it is illegal to claim to be affiliated with a governmental entity when you're not, and as a result, we have to take action if we see something like that on our site.
--And finally! The SFJunto chatboard asks if we've got a Cantonese Mike Litoris incident in the Chron!

Woo Hoo Herrera!!!
Get him out of there, let's get on with things. Gavin- do the right thing, appoint the right person of whatever race. The only qualified candidates left from the 06 D4 race are Ferguson and Dudum; They are the only ones who actually live in the district. None, and I say none of the other Chinese candidates lived in the District they were trying to represent.
Finally the city Atty is moving to oust Mr Jew, he's become a nightmare a stain on our city.
Seriously? Chan and Mak don't live in D4?
www.sfweekly.com/2006-10-18/news/dirty-laundry/
apparently DC does
SFWeekly should have done a little more research-
I stand by what I said.
It doesn't matter anyway, DC never had a chance.
I, for one, think Ed Jew is very cute. Hopefully, we'll overlap some, if you get my, um, drift...
my point is that Ed Jew Ran a smear campaign against DC (not that it mattered) accusing DC of not living in the district only to find himself in this predicament. Im with you though that the second place finisher should be appointed.
I really want to say thank you to SFist for providing a forum for us SF residents to discuss what has been going on- and not censoring the hell out of it! I am very disappointed that The Examiner feels it should remove posts from its readers. I don't want to assume why they would do that. I commented, and another commenter agreed with me that they should not be censoring opinions of their readers.
of course, within a few minutes, those remarks were also removed.
So keep it up Sfist!
We don't all have to agree, but we should all be able to state our opinion!
apples, thank you for confirming what I've long suspected. I posted something critical on the Examiner board last week, and an hour later it was gone. I thought maybe it was something wrong with my server!
The Examiner is now officially dead to me.

i love how ed jew's website says he's raising his daughter in sunset. last time i checked, according to ed jew, she lives in burlingame with his wife. not only that but she goes to mercy high school in burlingame. nice one, ed jew.
Hey Fed Ed!
Remember when you told your friends that you have the best lawyers (Steven and Billy) that money can buy???
Remember also when you told your friends that you have the best CPA/Accountant (Calvin Louie) who can make magic with your finances and taxes???
Do you still believe it's true???
@apples, DC does in fact live in the sunset. Your argument that none of the Chinese candidates lived in the district is completely unfounded. Are you implying that Chinese candidates are guilty by association? The SF weekly article clearly establishes that DC does live in the sunset. What evidence do you have to prove that DC doesnt?
Before you accuse Chan of anything i recommend you back up your allegations.
@ J to the Izzo:
Doug Chan is not and never was a factor in the D4 race.Let’s stop with Doug Chan. There is word about town that the Sec. of State is investigating all four Chinese candidates who were running in that district- not because they are Chinese. (Can we stop with race card already, I am Chinese! This is not a witch hunt!)There is reason to believe that none of them live there. I have reason to believe that as well since one of them lives in my building- Downtown!!!
What's with the threats man?
Everyone has the rights to question a public official and their residency.
I don't care who DC is, but if he wants to run for politics, especially in SF, then he is Open Target.
Especially now with "Tapper Ed", his wife and brother caught up with Voter Fraud.
They are all registered to vote and have voted in the Sunset district.
Yet, "Tapper Ed" and his wife lives in Burlingame.
His brother lives in Chinatown.
So you tell me, who's the one that needs to prove anything man?
Adrian:
Mercy High School ain’t in Burlingame. It's in SF, and in fact, it’s in the Sunset. (Kim Guilfoyle is an alumna.) www.mercyhs.org/aboutmercy/map_directions.htm. You don't by any chance write for the Examiner, do you?
@Apples, your insistence that DC must not live in the Sunset is ridiculous. FWIW many within the Chinese community have felt greatly ashamed by whats happened to Ed Jew. Your statements that all four chinese candidates from D4 dont live in the district implies that being Chinese automatically means your dirty. Although one of the candidates may live in your "downtown" building that does not mean all 4 of them dont live in the district. When provided with evidence that DC does live in the sunset you insist on sticking to your false statements. And yes this is an important fact, many within the Chinese community believed those unfounded allegations (including yourself) which had an impact on DC's chances. Im not saying that this was the deciding factor but it was still a factor none the less.
Ed Jew's situation is completely different from the other candidates because there is hard evidence that he does not live in the district. Therefore before you make blanket accusations (about a class of candidates) please back them up !
@ J to the Izzo:
"Your statements that all four chinese candidates from D4 dont live in the district implies that being Chinese automatically means your dirty."
That is not at all what was implied. I am Chinese, and those four candidates, who happen to be Chinese, are suspect. That is it.
"Although one of the candidates may live in your "downtown" building that does not mean all 4 of them dont live in the district"
One lives in my building downtown, one lives in Burlingame, one lives on 18th Ave., the other lives at one of four addresses, two that are not in the district. How is that for backing it up?
"many within the Chinese community believed those unfounded allegations (including yourself) which had an impact on DC's chances"
DC got 4th place. Why is he even being discussed? He lost. He is not electable. It has nothing to do with his residency issues.
"Therefore before you make blanket accusations (about a class of candidates) please back them up !"
A "class of candidates"? Get over it. Again this is not about race. It is not about Doug Chan, why aren’t you defending the other candidates?
@Apples, "Get over it. Again this is not about race. It is not about Doug Chan, why aren’t you defending the other candidates? "
Im just calling it as i see it and calling you on your false allegations. Whats upsetting is given the hard evidence disproving those allegations you continue to smear a guy by perpetuating a unfounded rumor. (Kinda like how the VP insists that WMD existed in Iraq despite the lack of evidence.) Facts are that DC lives in the sunset, his house was being renovated so he lives in an apartment on 20th ave (within the district, west of 19th ave).
DC is not without faults either it was obvious that his campaign office was not within the district but dont accuse a guy of carpet bagging based on unfounded rumors. The truth is i didn't support DC's candidacy for other reasons but that is not too say that his residency issue did not play into the outcome of the race.
Admittedly i do not know much about the residency of the other candidates besides Ed Jew (whom doesnt live in the district) and Doug Chan (whom apparently does)but facts are facts and your continued insistence on spreading unfounded rumors is completely irresponsible.
@J to the Izzo, I would argue that DC performing baddly directly resulted in Ed Jew's election. Think about it, If DC performed better the votes would have more then likely come from Ed Jew thus Duddum would have probably won.
@ J to the Izzo
"Whats upsetting is given the hard evidence disproving those allegations you continue to smear a guy by perpetuating a unfounded rumor."
SF Weekly- now considered "hard evidence".
Awesome.
I never singled out DC; you chose to defend him out of the four candidates I referred to.
If you say he lives there. I'll take your word.
But like I said, Doug Chan is not and was not a factor in the D4 race.
Forget about him, everyone else has.
@Apples, Jon makes the point that if DC had did better Ed Jew's votes would have likely been distributed and thus probably not have won. Therefore DC's candidacy is very relevant.
@ J to the Izzo
I totally agree that his candidacy IS very relevant to the way things played out as far as RCV goes. We would most likey have Dudum as D4 Sup. What I meant by not a factor was that he finished 4th, despite his backing from City Hall, etc. He doesn't have the connection to Sunset voters like Ron Dudum does, or Ed Jew once did.
Christine,
Before you try to start an debate with someone, look up your arguments. There is a Mercy High School in Burlingame
www.mercyhsb.com/
And as many sources have reported, Ed Jew's daughter attends that Mercy High.
But either way, if you are trying to defend Ed Jew, you might want to backtrack your argument because even if you MIGHT be right, keep in mind - Ed Jew's claim is that he's raising his daughter in the Sunset public schooling system, which he "supports". If that's the case, why is he sending his daughter to a private school?
And no, I don't write for the Examiner. I just have common sense and know that Ed Jew is a joke.
