nbeachfest.jpg--It's June 16, which means it's Bloomsday! Commemorate the day made famous in James Joyce's Ulysses with readings from the book, music, and a special Bloomsday feast at the Mechanics' Institute. 57 Post Street (x Market), $15, saloon opens 6:30, readings begin at 7:30.

--LAist Zach is coming to town as part of the CalArtsf alumni art festival: dance, spoken word, world music, animation, paintings, and lots more artistic expression at Cowell Theater and the Herbst Cafe in Fort Mason. It's free and goes from 1:30-9 p.m. Performances are at 3 and at 7.

--The North Beach Festival is in Washington Square Park this weekend! Music, arts, food, and wine and beer. 10-6, Columbus and Union.

--Drink for wild mustangs and burros at El Rio. $10-25 donation, 3-8 p.m., 3158 Mission (x Cesar Chavez).

--Fresh Meat! Celebrating transgender and queer performance, tonight's lineup includes local male hula dancing troupe Na Lei Hulu I Kai Wekiu, taiko drum troupe Taiko Ren, and singer/Trannyfest founder Shawna Virago, among many others. $15, two shows (7 p.m. and 10 p.m.), ODC Theater (3153 17th, x S. Van Ness).

--And it's Mortified night at the Make Out Room. Embarrassing stories under the disco ball! $10 advance, $12 at the door, 7 p.m., 3225 22nd (x Mission).
