--Do you live in District 4? Do you want to be a plaintiff in a lawsuit to get Ed Jew out of office? Prerequisites for this job include: running water, garbage pickup service, a cable bill.
--There's two pro-Ed Jew rallies scheduled tomorrow, at the same time (11 a.m.) -- one in Chinatown, and one at City Hall (in SF, not Burlingame). Can someone please go and send us pictures?
--The Chron has a copy (.pdf, 48 pages) of the affidavit the DA's office filed about why they don't think Ed Jew lives in San Francisco. Also, Ed Jew is an Aries. His Guardian horoscope says (no joke): "the best solution is surrendering."
--The only non-partisan person they could find who didn't want Ed Jew to resign? Lives in Burlingame too.
--Someone had an "ED JEW -- TIME TO RESIGN" poster at Thursday's City Operations and Neighborhood Services meeting. We like Sweet Melissa's signs better!

I love that neither of the rallies are in District 4. Maybe there will be a demonstration of support in Burlingame, too. And in Germany. And a bunch of other places where Jew is NOT s'posed to be living/representing.

Oh, no no no no, MPetrelis! My only objection to your sign was that everything is spelled correctly and it doesn't use the LOLCATS font!
Ummm...don't mind the Tapioca Ed monicker etc., and the entire coverage has been spot-on since this whole thing started, but the captioned photos are pretty unsettling to me. It's obvious the guys an idiot, but do you really have to capitalize on his less than perfect English speaking abilities? Not so funny.
I think that notafan is confused about the LOLCATS "statements". It's not a Jew-thing. It's a Kat-thing. See... catz cant spellz so gud, and they have terrible grammar. When they get their paws on your computer, they like to add text to photos -- mostly misspelled and grammatically incorrect text. They're smart enough to detect something is amiss in our local politics but not smart enough to use Spell Check! That's the LOLCATS thing.
What Ann said. Try googling "LOLCATS" or go to sites that have LOLCATS on other subjects. They ALL have slanted spelling and grammar in their captions. That's the whole point of the game.
Also, last I checked, Ed Jew speaks perfect English (he was born here). You assume that because he's Asian, he has "less than perfect English speaking abilities"? THAT is pretty unsettling, notafan.

I adore the LOLJEW photos and am a huge sfist fan. But I have to say the last one "I can has parduhn" image looks like a bad Mickey Rooney Asian stereotype. I guess it's the subject-verb reversal and third person conjugation errors that many furrhners tend to commit when learning English. The same grammar violations I surely commit when speaking Spanglish.
Jew may be a criminal but he was born and raised in the City! Or Burlingame! My point is that last LOLJEW was out of line, damnit!

Notafan, first, I want to say I totally respect and appreciate your comment (and thank you for the compliments on the coverage in general). I also did think about accent issues before posting the LOLJEW pictures -- it can be a sensitive subject among Asian-Americans.
So I ended up deciding the pictures were okay, because 1) LOLCATS spelling conventions, as other commenters have noted, and 2) Ed Jew is a third-generation Asian-American (born in SF, grandfather immigrated to California in the early 1900s) and speaks standard American English. You can check out his fluency in this interview he did with Dan Noyes.
Thanks for bringing up the issue, though -- and I'm glad to have the opportunity to explain my thinking on it!

Thank you for addressing the issue, Rita, but I really don't see why it was necessary. It only came up becausde of notafan's total ignorance of both lolcats and of Ed Jew's speech abilities.
I'm at a loss to figure out how the "parduhn" lolcat is akin to Mickey Rooney's caricature of an Asian man. I don't see that at all. It's just an ordinary photo of Ed (not parodied or photoshopped in any way) with a standard LOL "I can has" caption attached to it. Why are we getting our panties in a bunch over this? Mocking a person who happens to be Asian does not make the mocking racist.
By the way, Melissa, you've been doing a great job! Keep 'em coming!
