Hot Stuff: Food Blog Round Up

Cheers, baby! Photo courtesy of Something in Season.
We're salivating over two tasty events next week. The StarChefs Rising Stars Revue on Tuesday the 19th and Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation benefit at Acme Chophouse on Thursday the 21st. Keep your browser on See Us Eat for an update on the first event; we are heavily involved with the second one, and have cardboard boxes full of SOS marketing materials stacked up in our home "library" to prove it. Both events promise great food for even better causes.
The Shot critiques and analyzes Yelp and his own ratings systems. Our suspicions are confirmed: be very cautious of skewed ratings and star inflation when searching for food, restaurant, and of course coffee info online.
Sourdough Monkey Wrangler goes for days of sandwiches ranging from fresh egg with fatty Jersey cow cheese to home cured gravlax. The reason for the "sound of one hand clapping," which is both the name and reason for the post, is sweet and appealing. Something in Season helps us understand a twist on wine pairing. There are reasons both good and bad to drink wine. SIS admonishes us to keep in mind that "special occasions are already wonderful regardless of what you drink," which is a refreshing and possibly true approach.
We'd feel good, no make it GREAT, too, if we had a slice of goat cheese pizza with roasted peppers in front of us. Peek over at Albion Cooks, where Catherine also calls for fave eggplant recipes on the same post. Wash it all down with some suds from The City Beer Shop with "interesting bottles from around the world" according to Friend of SFist Derrick, at An Obsession with Food.
