Oh No, Ed Jew!: Discussed In The Streets
Before we launch into today's Ed Jew news, we just want to say -- have you guys seen this awesome debate on the political chatboard the Wall about whether our use of the term "Tapioca Ed" is racist towards Asian-Americans? Here's the line we love! "Instead of leveraging a bull*** website on what's offensive, why don't you ask someone Asian American?" Let's!
Okay, onto the latest! Tapioca Ed's had enough! His lawyer, Steven Gruel, has fired back a two-page letter to the SF City Attorney's office in response to yesterday's request, calling the City Attorney's office biased (was it the use of the word "tapioca"?), saying they were "sandbagging" poor Ed (why would they need sandbags? Guy has no water.), trying to score "public opinion points" at the supervisor's expense, and concluding:
Not only has your office displayed a degree of unprofessionalism which I have never witnessed, but the City Attorney's actions further underscore what is discussed on the streets -- that this 'investigation' is politically driven against the supervisor. (emphasis added)
Discussed on the streets? All we hear discussed on the streets about Ed Jew is: ha ha ha ha ha ha!!
Still from a video clip of Ed Jew from SF/Unscripted.

This is quickly becoming as fun as the Bee Catcher saga....
Methinks the good lawyer is gearing up for a "change of venue" motion.
Gruel is surprised that three weeks have passed and the city attorney still wants the documents. I suppose he'll write to the IRS next about how they sucker-punched him with their secret April 15th deadline.
And Tapioca originates in South America, BTW.
Oh, no Steve Gruel!
Perhaps he meant disgust in the streets?
As a Chicagoan (I was raised there and you are never not a Chicagoan once you've spent 14 years there, raised by Chicagoan parents), I can say I'm digging this whole saga. It feels like what big city politics is supposed to be like: Italian Opera. Well no one's died, yet, and there isn't any bloodshed, yet, but still it beats -- the I'm-more-liberal/more-San-Franciscan-than-you-are crap that normally passes for political "news" in SF. I hope this drags on for many more months!
I am just wanting for the Chron and Freezaminer to pick up on the Tapioca Ed monicker. Too, too funny.
The suspense is Grueling!!
