SFist Tonight

If you still haven't checked out any of the awesome exhibits at the Asian Art Museum, swing by around 5 for Matcha, their monthly mixer with live performances, gallery tours, drinks and more. DJ Tonk, a top Japanese hip-hop producer will be spinning till 9pm. $5 after 5pm, 200 Larkin St., SF.

David Lyle's solo show opens today at the Heather Marx gallery. Taking inspiration from vintage photographs found at thrift stores and flea markets, Lyle's photographs capture a kitchsy and nostalgic America. 7:30pm, 77 Geary Street (at Grant), SF.

Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner) reads from his latest book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, a chronicle of three decades of Afghan history told through emotional accounts of family and friendship. Tonight's event starts at 6pm, at the Herbst Theatre, 385 Moraga Ave, SF.

Kearny Street Workshop is presenting a short film trailer and discussion about the Japanese and Asian-American perspective on pregnancy termination. 7 p.m., 180 Capp Street (x 17th), free.

Get the weekend started early at:

Celebrity Thursdays at Duplex, a hip-hop and R&B throwdown. $10 get you in the door (ladies free before 10pm). 1525 Mission St., SF.

Dig out your hot pink legwarmers and iridescent eyeshadow for an 80s party till 3am. It's 1984 at the Cat Club! Free before 10pm. 1190 Folsom (at 8th), SF.
