First of all, a big sloppy THANKS! to SFist MattyMatt for yesterday evening's Oh No Ed Jew news update! We were out.
So what's the latest on Tapioca Ed for today? Well, he did make it to the Board of Supes meeting yesterday, where he said he wouldn't resign and refused to take any other questions unless they were about his trip to China. At the meeting, Jew was the only person who voted against banning parrot-feeding in city parks (look for $40,000 in bird seed in the safe), before leaving the meeting early. Hey, that commute down 101 to Burlingame gets really bad around 5 p.m.!
Meanwhile, Matier and Ross report that even though Jew told everyone three weeks ago that he had given $20,000 of the $40K of alleged Quickly-shakedown cash to a local community playground (the other half went to his consultant friend), the community group (Friends of Sunset Playground) only just got a check in the mail yesterday. Oddly enough, the check they got was only for $10,000. Is the other $10K going to attorneys' fees? [No! It was seized by the FBI! That's even worse! Thanks for the reminder, commenter Pen!]
The Friends of Sunset Playground are kind of upset about getting dragged into this whole thing, saying they hadn't even heard about this until it broke in the news. They're going to send the check back, saying they don't want any trouble with the FBI.

For whom the Bell tolls? Me thinks it tolls for thee, Ed Jew.

Don't miss this thought-provoking quote from edjew.net:
Had 2 do an lolEd for that one: here.
And this time I put the damned quotes around the url, even thought the RFC defines a whole list of url delimiters specifically for the purpose of making quotes unnecessary.
For some reason, whenever I see the "Oh No, Ed Jew!" headline on SFist, it makes me think of the title of a children's book. Was that intentional?
Maybe someone should actually write one about this dude! It'd be fun.
The other $10k was confiscated by the FBI. According to Jew, he will donate it when and if the FBI returns it.
This has been reported in several articles. C'mon guys, check your facts before making insinuations.
Why would Supervisor Jew accept 20,000 from a business who could have received their services for free from the planning department? How did the planning department get anything done in two weeks, much less sort out a complex issue like this? You can't even get a phone call to that department returned in two weeks! Perhaps the zoning administrator, Mr. Badiner, has some questions to answer too, unless he's too busy enjoying all those comp tapioca drinks.
Let me get this straight:
Quickly tea shops were having trouble with their permits. So they go to Ed Jew, a Supervisor, who tells them to hire a "consultant"
Then Supervisor Jew takes the cash from them and promises to give it to the "consultant". He also makes these businessmen give 20,000 to a favored cause of his, a playground. All to get permits.
THIS is a champion of small business? Sounds like a low-rent thug to me. Extorting money from small businessmen to expedite their permits "or else" for his friend and for his causes.
And then he starts opening his mouth and can't even tell the truth about the house in Burlingame.
If he was a liberal, the Wall and the Chron would advocate shooting this guy on sight.
Hahaha, is Ross Mirkarimi taking off his glasses to read?
