There was a point at which I was considering USC, but an uncle in academia pointed out that their initials are generally thought to stand for "Unusually Spoiled Children." Then I got a brochure from USC that admitted as much and added, "so what?" I admire that kind of chutzpa. But chutzpa wasn't part of my college evaluation process.

I think Anon is right. USC grads lack social graces while UCDavis folks are good firefighting-supporting people. USC grads would just assume have your house burn down.
