Not Doing It, Lumpy: Chris Daly's Not Running
Guess Lumpy's not doing it after all -- Pat Murphy, the guy who came up with the catch phrase "Do It, Lumpy" to goad local progressive ringleader and District 6 Supervisor Chris Daly into running for mayor in the first place, has posted a press release from Camp Daly. Contrary to Chris's prior bold statements that he'd jump in the race if no one else did, Daly now says:
Family is the most important part of my life. I was fortunate to spend all day Sunday with [wife] Sarah and [son] Jack. Sarah and I talked late into the evening about a possible campaign for Mayor. After a tough campaign last Fall and expecting a new baby in late October, I plan to spend more quality time with my family this year. A campaign for Mayor would not allow that.
To be fair, Chris had always been pretty open about Sarah's strong objections to him running for mayor -- and with the new baby girl (!!!!) on the way and all, we can't really say we blame 'em for the decision.
We are sorry to have to retire the column name "Do It, Lumpy," though -- before we even got it started! We were already planning a singalong contest for it -- were you singing it to the tune of "Hang On Sloopy" or "Do The Hustle"?

Pat Murphy stole the press release from FCJ, who Daly released the announcement to.

As always Chris is honest and I applaud his choice to put his family first, San Francisco is lucky to have him. By the by "i", Elaine rocks and Pat does have his head up newsoms ass (where he gets a pretty good view of phil ginsberg and ragone).
As a resident of District 9, I am simultaneously heartened and saddened by this news. While I abhor the idea of Daly being my elected representative, I am delighted that he's not going to have a bigger platform for misguided "progressiveness".
I'm sadden cause I can't tease the trolls now.

Can Daly please STFU. First he grandstands "If nobody runs I'll run" When that doesn't pan out he says his woman won't let him. What a little bitch(Daly, not his wife). And please save me your little petty arguments on who "broke" what story. Nobody cares In the end Daly proved that he is all talk. (Not much of a surprise to those of us who live in his district). But I am thankful that Daly isn't running because I won't have to deal with his peons flooding my street having absolutely no idea why I should support his candidate. During his last run for Sup a Daly supporter came to my door asking for my support. When I asked him why I should back his candidate he said "Well, I have a green one" and he handed me a green post card and walked away. I love people who understand the issues. Arrgghh. As a true progressive I am soooo tired of those who claim that mantle yet do absolutely nothing to further the progress of ALL citizens of SF(Believe it or not most of us aren't rich and have to work our butts off everyday just to survive. I have never seen a group of people work so hard to get nothing done. Oh and since Daly isn't going to be doing much could he please get off his ass and take down the Daly sign thats been languishing on Mission and VanNess for some time. (I'm sure he would be all over Newsom if he left a sign up)
And please Jonesy save me the family first take on Daly. Did he not know he was pregnant when he announced he would run if nobody else did??? Of course he did so please spare us the "Family first BS"
Oh and another thing why and the hell is Daly calling his wife courageous??? Does she work for blackwater of something? Is it because she's pregnant? (Don't women get knocked up all of the time?)Is it because she deals with him??? Why? Please tell me why?
