Just Don't Read SFist While You're Driving

The Merc is reporting that as of yesterday, Avis Rent A Car is offering Wi-Fi service with cars rented from its SFO location. It's $10.95 a day, which seems pricey, but we suppose it's better than, say, renting by the hour at many cyber-cafes or whatnot. The enabling device can come with you into meetings, making this a pretty interesting option for the business traveller.

The devices were created by a local company, Autonet Mobile of Larkspur. The company's Web site indicates that you may be able to purchase the device for yourself as early as this spring--$399 for the device, $49.95 monthly. Ouch.

Any idea what the ticket for "surfing and driving" will be?
