Ackerman's monthly housing allowance was more than my monthly take-home pay as a first and second year teacher. SFUSD has yet again decided to not pass on the Cost of Living Allocation provided by the state to its already insanely underpaid employees. Hm. Could this be one of the reasons why?

Campers, Let's see, that's a half million dollars so far out the door to Ackerman because of a lousy contract snuck through the back door of an illegal meeting of a lame-duck school board by David Campos. Any links? Oh yeah, Ackerman was hired after a long interview with Warren Hellman. Campos was working for Warren Hellman at the time. Hellman then promoted Campos to take Louise Renne's position as chief attorney for the SFUSD. Campos then created a golden parachute for Ackerman that kept on giving. The district will pay Ackerman because Campos, who is still their chief attorney, will advise them to honor the contractual obligations he committed them to on behalf of Hellman. You know Warren. He's the Bay Guardian's man of the year. hmmmmm, h.

Sometimes its better to just pay an employee you no longer want everything due on their contract, regardless of how much it costs rather than force them out, only to have that employee file a wrongful termination suit. Folks in the sports world do it all the time, with the exception of Mark Cuban. A contract is a contract and if Ackerman was smart enough to put that in her contract, then you have to blame the school board, and their attorneys for agreeing to such a clause. Also for not getting Ackerman to promise not to sue as part of her resignation deal.

I was not aware overpaid administrators were "owed" a living from the taxpayers for doing a bad job. Her successor seemed to do OK. What's up with that? She should move on to the next overpaid job and shut up.

Too funny. We're trying to negotiate a 6% raise to get that extra $100 bucks in our paycheck every month. Girlfriend made out like a bandit while she was here. Whatever. Summer's almost here.
