Political Junkie: Scheduling Conflicts

calendaroutlook516.jpgChris Daly's super excited about his Progressive Convention on Saturday June 2, right? He's telling everyone! He even crashed Gavin Newsom's party last Saturday to tell him! June 2! June 2! They're going to nominate a progressive mayoral candidate on June 2!

Soooooo.... guess who else is having a mayoral event that very same day????

In order to qualify Mayor Gavin Newsom for the ballot this coming November, we need your help. We are going to start collecting signatures from San Franciscans on June 2nd. We want to show the City's widespread support of our Mayor and his vision for San Francisco.

We're hosting a volunteer mobilization on June 2nd at 12:30 at our campaign headquarters. Please come join the Mayor and other enthusiastic campaign volunteers as we hit the streets to let people know what this campaign is all about.

Oh no! Scheduling another party on the very same day as your rival's! That is COLD. They're going to have a rally for Newsom on Chris Daly's birthday next!

After the jump: we actually talked to both Chris Daly and the Newsom campaign about this -- plus, all your info for your jam-packed June 2nd schedule.

We talked to Chris Daly about it, and he said, "Gavin's already stolen our platform on marriage equality, tidal energy, health care, and gun control. Why not take June 2nd too?"

To be fair, we also talked to Eric Jaye, the Newsom 07 campaign manager. Jaye says they've been planning to gather signatures on June 2 for months, since the signature-gathering kickoff date is June 1, and he notes that DA Kamala Harris is having an event on June 2 too. He says, "It should be an interesting day.... but I don¹t think too many of our folks are considering going to the Chris Daly show and probably the same could be said in reverse for his supporters."

But what about us folks on the fence? How is SFist going to get awesome pictures of all of this on June the second? We've got some elaborate party-hopping to plan!

Here's your info -- pick your party!

--Progressive Convention: 10-5 p.m., Tenderloin Elem. School, 627 Turk (x Van Ness).

--Newsom volunteer rally: 12:30 p.m., Newsom HQ, 1320 Sutter (x Van Ness, a mere five blocks up the street from the Progressive Convention). RSVP required.

--Kamala Harris kickoff event: Women's Building (18th Street, x Guerrero), 10:30 a.m.-noon.

Can't wait to feed the trolls.

Jerry, considering you HAVE TO post first every single freaking time with your anti-Newsom pro-lefty crap of the week (don't matter what), you're the biggest troll on the board. Get a job.

campers,

My, these Newsom people have a short fuse. Lay off Jerry, Yogo. You seen him? He blocks out the sun on a cloudless day.

Newsom's people should crash our event with chicken costumes and nominate Gavin as the Progressive nominee. Frankly, I'm betting he'd get their endorsement. It's obvious none of our leaders have any balls.

h.

Oh look a drunken little bum threating violence. When the progs remove a racist cancer like you for their own cause, then they'll have balls. C'mon Jerry, is it true, are you a thug? F'in lefty hypocrite.

This is the dullest trolling I've ever seen. Make it funny or polite, people; it's got to be one or the other (or both) or else nobody will care.

the sun hasn't gone down yet matt

MattyMatt - because sfist has always been funny and polite with their personal attacks......riiiiight!

Hey, I've only been co-editing for a week and a half.

how much is daly paying for use of the public school on june 2nd for his announcement to run against gavin?

about as much as Newsom does.
