Great picture. I always try to bring out-of-town visitors to Dolores Park if time allows and the weather is sunny. Let's face it, there aren't many better places to get that "only-in-SF experience", especially with the people-watching.
Alamo Square is nicer -- Less hipsters drinking sparks in the park, less PDAs and thongs on greasy gay guys (not that there's anything wrong with that) and an equally great view. HA!
Hey, to each their own, right? If you're a gay yuppie looking to get almost naked, or if you have fixie and and happen upon a four-pack of sparks, or if you're a lesbian whose tired of Bernal Hill, then by all means, enjoy Dolores Park. Personally, I prefer Dolores when no one is around, at around 3:00 a.m., when you can climb trees and roll down the hill without fear of hitting some twat-faced couple from the Castro who isn't even gay but is nonetheless indignant and self-serving. And watch out for their dog.
let's not talk about alamo like it's some second-rate park. we get prime sun, gorgeous views (different from dolores), super responsible dog owners who actually pick up their shit, cuuuuute and friendly neighborhood dogs, and a hill that faces in each direction... so you can opt to be in the shade or get some sun. and a park to drink our bottles of red wine at 3 in the morning while our guy friends sing songs from 1995.
Lighten up. It was a joke. Don't people who hang out in Dolores have any sense of humor? Or is all that sunscreen and bronzing oil slathered around your taint starting to leak into your blood stream?
Note: I've got no real problem with the display of flesh, generally speaking, but sometimes it's bit much, and a little respite is available at Alamo. That's all.
And I live in the Mission, so I will frequent whatever park I like, thank you.

I must say I prefer Dolores Park to Alamo -- for all the reasons cited by Van above.
