SFist Tonight
It's almost the end of April and we didn't even realize it was National Poetry Month! We're going to make it up to everyone by passing along tonight's Poems Under The Dome event. Poems Under The Dome is an open-mic poetry event in the big reception area of the SF City Hall and sponsored by the city -- show up and read whatever poem you'd like! (One poem per reader, time limits will be imposed, and slots will be given out by lottery on the day of the event.) We're really looking forward to Chris Daly's prose poem, "The City/Needs/Affordable Housing/I Hate You Pat Murphy." 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Other events:
--Doctor/writer Sherman Nuland is speaking at Herbst Theater (8 p.m, $19) and doctor/writer Atul Gawande is reading at Kepler's (7:30 p.m., free).
--The Gay Men's Chorus gives you Divas' Revenge II. Once was not enough! 7 p.m., Symphony Hall, $17-80.
--The SF Contemporary Music Players play a Xenakis trio for African hand drums. Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, $27, 8 p.m.
--Microcinema goes to 111 Minna for the season premiere of Independent Exposure's short film series. SFist contributor Lev is making an appearance!
--And the local chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is hosting a panel discussion on the applicability of standard journalism rules and ethics to blogging, called "Seek Truth and Blog It." 7 p.m. at CNET (2nd and Folsom), $7. A friend of ours is on the panel!
