It's Got to Be the Morning After

Warriors 103 Mavs 99- We swear this happened. With a couple of minutes left and the Mavs up by four, the Mavs were set up in their half-court offense when one of the TNT announcers said something along the lines of "the Mavs are getting their winning confidence back." As soon as they said that, the Mavs missed the shot and Jackson hit a three. That was followed by a turnover and a Baron Davis lay up (we think) that gave the Warriors a lead they never gave up. In fact, the Warriors went on a little run right afterwards to put the game away.

We have to say in watching the game that the Warriors just swarmed all over the place defensively. Everytime someone on the Mavs touched the ball, there were two to three Warriors on them instantly. It was the kind of win that gives a team the label scrappy-- forcing turnovers and taking advantage of almost every break given their way, riding on the sheer emotion of the home crowd and whatever juju Nelson has weaved. The Mavs, apparently, have been rattled enough to have a team meeting Saturday night-- that's never a good sign. And they lost anyways.

Diamond Backs 5 Giants 4- Remember that eight game winning streak? Wasn't that awesome? Remember how their bullpen didn't give up any runs? Or they got big hits when they counted? Remember how like every pitcher in the starting rotation was almost unhittable? Good times, good times.

DRays 5 A's 3- Dallas Braden, he of the magic first professional start, wasn't so magic this time around, giving up three home runs to the 'Rays to lose the game. Losing two out of three to the DRays shouldn't be considered that bad of a thing, however. The Rays have been one of those up-and-coming teams for the past few years and they seem to be upping and coming. Right now, in fact, they're in fourth place in the AL East, a game ahead of the (and we love writing this) the last place Yankees.
