Prom Dresses and Combat Boots in Union Square

The organization Teens for Safe Cosmetics held a rally in San Francisco yesterday to raise awareness of carcinogens in personal care products and cosmetics. The invitation's recommended attrie? Prom dresses and combat boots. The big claim? Of the nearly 6000 chemicals used in the industry, only 11% have been assessed for safety. Is that true? Sounds like a little more testing is in order. More shots after the jump
No flip flops here. Looks like regulation combat boots to us.

Carole Migden makes a few more friends after addressing the youthful crowd. The Senator's seminal Safe Cosmetics Act was signed into law in 2005.

Susan Black, a founder of EO [as in Essential Oils] Products, gets some back up from a few future prom queens.

The U.S. Army sent over a senior NCO to protect the swag tent. A Sergeant First Class, judging by her shoulder patches. All in all, a nice event.
