It's Got to Be the Morning After

Warriors 97 Mavericks 85- Maybe the Mavericks should be scared. Despite their 67 wins this season, the Warriors beat them handily in Game 1 of the first round playoffs. The game was tied at halftime but the Warriors just went on a tear in the third quater to take this so easily the crowd left with plenty of time left in the game. Baron Davis led the way with a third quarter explosion, scoring nineteen points (he ende d up with 33 points and 14 rebounds) and J-Rich hit some clutch shots in the fourth to seal the deal. After the game, we saw Mark Cuban walk across the court, looking p-i-s-s-e-d. We like Cuban, but it's still fun to see him walking around like he's about to explode.

Giants 2 Diamondbacks 1-Matt Cain got all the attention on ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" last night and why not? He had a one-hit shutout going up until the 9th and after a few scary turns and some kick-ass D on the part of Ray Durham, he got out of the game with a win and a complete game. So far, he's got an ERA of 1.55 and opponents are hitting .120 against him and even though he's 1-1, he could easily be 3-0 if it weren't for lack of offense and a better bullpen. The amazing thing is that the Giants scored all of three runs this weekend, two of them due to homers on the part of Barry B, and the Giants won both of them. They are now on a five game winning streak and are somehow one game above .500.

Rangers 4 A's 3- Hey A's fans, how are you enjoying this season? Feel fresh and laid back? Or is your hair all grey and your blood pressure up? The A's got into yet another one run game but this one was bad for all sorts of reasons, mainly in that they had a 3-1 lead going into the 8th only to give up 3 runs to lose the game. Even worse, one of those runs came when Justin Duchscherer walked Sammy Sosa (boooo!!!) with the bases loaded to give up one run. That always sucks when it happens. Then Houston Street came in (and props to Bob Geren for throwing the closer out there early) and promptly gave up a two-run single to Hank Blalock. Even worse for the Athletics, Milton Bradley and Rich Harden are both hurt.
