SFist Tonight

sf2tonite1.jpgSFist Jenna has your low-cost Friday and weekend covered!

Whether you're expecting a tax refund or if you had to cough up a pocket-full of dough to the IRS, we've compiled a list of things to do in the city on a budget, all for the cost of a movie – or less!

Tonight: Jeffrey Brown at GRSF. Eager to get an early-bird preview of the Alternate Press Expo? Head over to 618 Shrader, where Giant Robot and Chronicle Books present a book-signing with Jeffrey Brown, who emerged on the comic scene in 2003 with his self-published Clumsy. With a style more indie rock, and DIY zine than polished comic, Brown's latest work, Cat Getting Out of a Bag, dissects the tenuous relationship between humans and cats. Free, 6:30-8:30 at Giant Robot SF.

Comedy Central: Not expecting a tax refund this year? Head over to your favorite neighborhood sidewalk café, Dolores Park Café for a night of (almost) free comedy. With a killer line-up of ten local Bay Area comedians, have your fun for less than the cost of a movie at the third annual Café con Comedy. 7:30pm, Dolores Park Café,
501 Dolores @ 18th, SF.

Earth Day and indie artists on Sunday and Saturday respectively, after the jump. Picture of the flyer for Jeffrey Brown's event tonight.

Saturday, April 21

The Indie: Continue to celebrate alternative press at the opening reception for Gallery 1988, with a smattering of local, independent artists at Gallery 1988, 1173 Sutter, SF.

Sunday, April 22. Earth Day in GG Park. Celebrate Earth Day in Golden Gate Park for the cost of a brown bag and getting your booty to the park. Performances by Willie Nelson, Stephen and Damien "Jr Gong" Marley, Bob Weir, Greyboy All-Stars and more! Head over to Speedway Meadow, and kick off your shoes and enjoy the shows. 25th and Fulton, Golden Gate Park, SF. Thanks, Green Apple Music Festival!

APE was pretty sweet. Definitely worth the measly $7 admission. I've got a write-up and pics at my blog, if you're interested. Cheers!
