Now the Entire State Hates Our Freedom

232638-0506putting01.jpgNow hating the war isn't just the domain of tree hugging hippies and the Defeatocrats-- it's the entire state of California. Today, State Senator Don Perata announced that he wants the entire state to vote on a referendum on pulling troops out of Iraq. Perata might be announcing it, but we see the evil workings of Barbara Streisand behind all this, probably in cahoots with David Geffen and Michael Moore. And even if Rosie lives on the East Coast, she probably has something to do with all of this too.

Laugh now, but when we hand over the state to Osama, we'll see how things go. Just envision Disneyland turning into Talibanland and having Space Mountain become Jihad Mountain where animotronic Mullah's throw stones at you. We don't even want to mention what would happen to "Country Bear Jamboree."

In order for there to be a vote, however, it'll have to pass the California Senate and Assembly and then get the stamp of approval from the Governator. Republicans are already opposing it, natch, but who listens to them? Considering Bush's approval ratings in the state are somewhere in the only psychotics and meth freaks approve of him range, who knows what'll happen? Maybe we'll be too busy bombing Iran at that time for anyone to care. Iran, is after all, the new Iraq.

Great - this is a wonderful use of the public tax dollar - just like Chris Daly's meaningless proposition on last year's ballot that cost us extra bucks that could have been better spent cleaning up the streets or otherwise productive.

This stuff just makes us look silly. Perata wins today's idiot politician award.

Jamie: Your comment just makes you look silly. And stupid. And pathetic. Jamie wins today's idiot/moron/non-caring/jerk award.

Jon: You make Jamie look like Einstein. Why don't we hand YOU over to Osama? On the one hand we have a demented psycho, filled with hate with no grasp of democracy and no grasp of reality. On the other hand we have Osama. What a perfect pair of intolerant idiots.

Personal insults aside, please educate me as to how our politicans' time and money at the City and State levels should be spent on a referendum that is impotent for affecting change?

I have a strong desire to see fiscal responsibility from our employees (the elected officials of the City and the State). I'd like to see these funds spent on a lot of other projects where positive changes can result - what's so wrong with that?

Take your pick - education, clean water, clean air, medical insurance for the uninsured, long-term care for our senior citizens, safer pedestrian crossings, less litter on the streets, more community involvement ... I think I've made my point if you're actually considering it.

Every public dollar has several possibilities to make our lives better. It should not be squandered on referendums that hold no water. It is no secret that the majority of Americans (not just Californians) disapprove of the handling of the war in Iraq and want our troops to come home.

Berate me if you will, but we need to see much better fiscal responsibility shown by our politicians as the ratio of working adults to non-working adults increases substantially with baby boom checking out of the workplace.

Umm....in that last paragraph, I'm basically trying to say there are going to be a lot more retirees sucking away funds compared to folks left working (Gen X and the Millennials and then the generation going through the diapers now) to pay into the public entities.

Fiscal responsibility - need more politicians who understand what fiscal responsibility means.

I always thought a clever Islamic name for California would be the Calif of Ornia.
