It's Got to Be the Morning After

sp_giants_030_kw.jpgWarriors 110 Rockets 99: On the boob tube yesterday, ESPN noted that out all the teams in playoff contention, the Warriors have the toughest schedule. It's one of the reasons Golden State of Mind shook their heads at the idea of the Warriors going to the playoffs. Well, lookee here, the Warriors beat one of those teams they shouldn't have beaten and did it in convincing fashion. Nelly did his traditional small-ball scheme and 6-9 Al Harrington wound up being the man who shut down 7-5 Yao. J-Rich led the way with 27 points, eleven coming in the final quarter and nine of them by three-pointers.

A's 9 Mariners 0- After the somewhat surprising start of the season, the A's took out some of their frustration with this shellacking. Rich Harden threw down the shutout and Mark Ellis drove in five RBIs. Not too shabby for the ninth hitter, but then again, this is the American League. At the end of the game, new A's manager Bob Geren was doused with beer in honor of his first win as a head coach.

Padres 5 Giants 3- First off, we loved the fact we turned on the radio and got this game. We also loved the fact we got home and turned on the TV to watch this game. That makes us happy. Watching the team waste eight base runners and the bullpen blow another game does not make us happy. The game was pretty much like last year-- no offense, not quite good enough starting pitching, and a super-lousy bullpen. In an ominous note, this is the first time the Giants have started 0-2 since the dreadful 1996 season. The only good news in the game, if you are so inclined, is that The Barry hit a homerun, his 735th

And finally...

Sharks 3 Ducks 2- We've been saying this for awhile now but the Sharks and Ducks have themselves a nice little rivalry going on, albeit one in which the Ducks seem to get the better of the Sharks. Not this time as the Sharks rallied from two down and won in a shootout. They're now three points behind the Ducks in the conference and two points shy of Nashville for home court (ice?) advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
