I used 311 to report vagrency and they dialed the SFPD gave them my complaint information. Seems to work just fine, except it took 2 or 3 rings to get a person at 9PM on a Sunday.

I think of 311 as a proxy to city services, which I think is a good idea so far.

Called Jeff last week and asked about the cesar chavez no school bus muni question. Muni's site said to call for more info, the number transers you to 311. Jeff at 311 tried and said "hmm they are telling me to call for more info" I told him don't bother, you are the more info person! Apparently 311 is just people with internet access. (I bet google is their home page!)

So jeff was nice and said he'd call me back with more info! He told me my number correctly using caller ID. So I waited...and waited...and...Jeff...Never...Called...Back.

How much is all this costing?

Good to hear 311 is working. I haven't tried it yet, but then again I'm usually walking to my destinations. Would I call 311 to ask about malfunctioning street signals (like at Folsom and Main on Saturday and most of Sunday)? How about a pedestrian sign that needs adjustment (southwest corner of Folsom and Main)?

The transit info. alone is worth plugging that into my cell phone directory. Gratzi!
