It's Got to Be the Morning After

a_nelson_don_ht.jpg--At times, coaches get blamed for losing a game. Herm Edwards, Doc Rivers, and Marty Schottenheimer, we're looking at you.

But last night, Nellie rrrreally lost the game for the Warriors. Up by two in the final seconds versus the Bullets Wizards, Nellie drew a technical foul for shouting at the ref.

Former Warrior Gilbert "Agent Zero" Arenas sank the resulting three free throws to win the game for Washington. Wow, just wow. Our hubris meter just went off the scale.

The obvious next step? Well, por supuesto, tonight the Warriors go to Detroit, the current home of the man who set the Warriors farther back than they could even set themselves back under normal Warrior setting-back-itude: Chris Webber.

Oh gawd, Warrior fans; these specters of past wasted potential returned to roost all at once -- it's like that recurring nightmare involving all your exes and the polar bear pit at the SF Zoo.

--The 49ers signed a defensive tackle and a wide receiver to go with their strong safety and cornerback already signed during the NFL's 2007 free agency period. The Raiders have signed no free agents, but did get manipulated by QB Jeff Garcia's agent to cut a more favorable deal with Tampa Bay, according to ESPN's owlish John Clayton. Further analysis later in your American Football Spectacular.

--The Sharks beat the North Stars 4-0 in Dallas, breaking their season-worst four game losing streak. They got a goal from Curtis Brown on the first San Jose shot of the game, which is a nice-enough way to start off. Nabokov then kept the puck from the twine the rest of the game for SJ and hopefully a corner was turned by the Sharks. Things are back on track, yes?
