In a sad story, the wife of the dean of the USF School of Education was killed when a Cadillac Escalade making a U-turn hit an SUV going through the intersection. The SUV careened into two people in the intersection and then slammed up against the wall of a building, and the wife of the dean was pinned under the car. There's upsetting pictures from the scene online too.
A freshman possibly on shrooms fell out the third floor of the Cal dorm Griffith Hall last night, suffering severe head injuries. He was found on the ground naked and covered with blood, but was conscious and is now in the hospital recovering. Three other students from the dorm are being investigated for possible shroom ingestion too.
And DA Kamala Harris's office convicted someone of second-degree murder yesterday -- that guy who strangled his mother in their apartment on Cesar Chavez last year after beating her with nunchucks. He said he was afraid she'd tell the police about his drug use. The defendant, a 27 year old who spent time skateboarding and making graffiti art, claimed he was depressed because his mother preferred her older son, and that he'd tried to kill himself by dropping a toaster into a bathtub.
