Well the Landslide Will Bring it Down

There was a landslide in North Beach early this morning around the Broadway and Montgomery intersection. Several buildings were evacuated and six have been declared unsafe at this point, displacing around 150 people and causing the police to close off Broadway between Montgomery and Sansome Street. The evacuated buildings include several apartment buildings and, are you ready for this, the Broadway Showgirls Cabaret. NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

This all happened around 3 in the morning and luckily all sorts of alarms went off alerting people that something was up. As a result, nobody was hurt. The landslide pushed a pile of rocks down the hill, knocking over trees, and eventually slammed into the backs of several buildings. Experts say a combination of all the various storms we've had lately caused the hill to be over-saturated and susceptible to landslides.

SFGate has a bunch of photos about the landslide and ABC 7 has video of it taken last night.
