Matt vs. Gavin: the Rematch?

124845559_4fd01a02a5_t.jpg
Fog City Journal is reporting that Matt Gonzalez has been in talks with a campaign manager, Nicole Derse, about running. We're all guessing it's for Mayor but who knows with Matt? We've heard speculation that he might be going for Kamala's job. Or maybe he's doing his patented "wait for the right moment" thing to try and snag a spot on "American Idol?" We hear his rendition of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" is pretty amazing.

Of course, this is all still rumor and conjecture, but Fog City Journal talked to Derse and she confirmed that she's talked to Matt. Still, Matt hasn't really announced anything yet so nobody really knows? We do know, here at SFist HQ, that Supervisor McDreamy beat out Matt in the official SFist "Who Should Run Against Gavin" poll, even though SFist was rooting for Lou Seal. Come to think of it, Lou Seal hasn't really denied he was going to run.

Hmmmm....

According to Matier and Ross, Peter Ragone (aka Byorn) is leaving his city job...

By the way, Peter Ragone -- the media Svengali who engineered much of Newsom's image magic, but then took his own hit over posting blog messages under a fake name -- is moving out of City Hall and over to the Newsom re-election campaign.

In other words, Ragone will officially be out, but still very much in the mix.

He will be replaced by Nate Ballard, who has worked for Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and the state Democratic Party.

I was happy when Pete decide to be PWR than joe anne
