It's Time For the SF Asian-American Film Festival!

2007sfiaaff.JPGEven as we continue to enjoy the movie cavalcade that is our beloved Indiefest, we're also getting ready for the next big film festival coming to town: the SF Asian-American Film Festival!

This is the 25th SF Int'l Asian-American Film Festival, and they're celebrating their silver anniversary this year with a special focus on Chinese-American film, a retrospective of the work of Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-soo, and a sing-along Flower Drum Song, among other special events.

The SFIAAFF always puts together a superb array of movies to check out as well -- we're desperately hoping we can score tickets to the opening film Finishing the Game, a comedy about Hollywood's quest for a Bruce Lee stand-in after the real Bruce Lee's death, by Justin Lin, the director of Better Luck Tomorrow, and we're already saving the date for the screening of the movie version of Mistress of Spices, adapted from the Chitra Divakaruni novel and filmed in Oakland.

You can check out all the movies screening here and get yourself psyched up -- tickets go on sale to the general public next Monday, Feb. 19. If you can't wait that long, there's a party tonight at 111 Minna too.

And, of course, stay tuned to SFist for reviews and reports from the scene!
