Political Junkie: The Om--- ?
Okay, this has been killing us all afternoon. So we were checking out the pictures from Gavin Newsom's reelection campaign kickoff rally from Sunday on his campaign website's "Brian Blogs," and it looks like they decorated the office with lots and lots of signs featuring the names of different SF neighborhoods. Sure, cool, no prob.
But.... what's the neighborhood in the sign at the very right of that picture? The Om---? What SF neighborhood starts with the name "The Om--"? The Omni? The Ombudsman? The Om Malik? We're totally stumped. Can someone please help us out here?
Picture from Brian's Blog, from ActLocallySF.org.

It's the "OMIGOD," silly...Otherwise known as The Marina.

on flickr there's another shot and the sign says 'the omi'.
maybe short for outer mission???
OMI: Outer Mission Ingleside
A picture further down shows the full sign albeit at a raked angle, and it appears to say "The OMI" ... what that refers to, I don't know, but it would have helped to draw the letters in pencil to figure out correct and consistent letter size and spacing before coloring them in. But maybe not everyone had such a "rigorous" fourth grade education.
OMI - Outer Mission/Ingleside.
OMI-
Oceanview, Merced (Heights), Ingleside (Heights). Generally leans more left as you move down to the grid streets. It's in Sandoval's district (11).
OMI = Oceanview Merced Ingleside
Ocean view, Merced heights Ingleside, or OMI
OMI- Oceanview, Merced Height and Ingleside.
The Outer Mission?

That's the OMI: Oceanside, Merced, Ingleside.
The Outer Mission? The OMission????
Um, actually it's the OMI: Oceanview (Ocean View?), Merced, Ingleside.
It is probably referring to "the OMI" which is the abbreviation used in the Mayor's office for the "Outer Mission - Ingleside" area of the city in the western-most portion of district 10.
OMI: Outer MIssion Ingleside
The Outer Mission --- The OMission???
"THE COND-
OMINIUM HELL THAT IS MISSION BAY"

The Outer Mission -- The OMission??
The Outer Mission --- The OMission??
dunno, but the grassroots feel of the signs are quite quaint, aren't they?
Hello! So apparently our comment server crashed again, right after this post went up -- so a big THANK YOU to the well-informed city dwellers who wrote me that it's "the OMI," which is "Oceanside-Merced-Ingleside." We always thought that neighborhood was called the Excelsior!
Now, is that pronounced "oh me," "oh my," or "O-M-I"?
What's Joan Rivers doing there?
It stands for Owner Move-In as in Owner Move-In (Eviction) OMI. It's a new neighborhood full of Chevron and Bechtel Executives that have recently displaced tenants.
I wonder if Peter Ragone was looking to buy in that area?
I thought it The 'Omless
It's The 'Omless

AS many have already mentioned, it's Oceanview, Merced, Ingleside - check out the OMI page at:

Can't believe so many thought it was something involving the Outer Mission. But, OMI as the Excelsior? Seriously? That's on the other side of the freeway.
Where is Peter Ragone? What are his new job functions that we SF taxpayers pay him to do.
Isn't that ironic, we pay Peter Ragone money to do what he does. What does he do now, by the way?
I know that he used to blog under fake names and then lie about it. I know he also brings lawsuits against private citizens and then pretends he doesn't understand key elements. But what what are we, San Francisco taxpayers paying him for now?
