It's Got to Be the Morning After

Delayed by Technology, it's your MorniEvening After report.

-Please, for the love all that is holy, make Armando Benitez go away. The Chron's Bruce Jenkins says indicators are that Armando is staying put with the Giants, to which we say AAUUUGH! Can The Human Blown Save go afflict another team now, please? Or just go home, we don't care which as long as he goes. He's like the opposite of what Robb Nen used to be in the closer role.

-For more information on the best Giant signing of this offseason, San Francisco has inked announcer Jon Miller to a 6-year extension. Awesome. Miller's steady affable flow on the mic makes listening to our desiccated wedded-to-a-cheater local team worthwhile. With vim, knowledge, humility, humor, and an obvious love for the game, Miller is the opposite of what Joe Buck is in the announcer role.

(And, uh, Miller is also not-so-much in favor of keeping Benitez around.)

-The Warriors pulled out a stirring overtime victory against the Bulls! Perhaps being on ESPN helped. Apparently, it was an awesome comeback. The Warriors rarrred back from being down double digits. No Baron Davis? No problem! Now, has any NBA team thought of all wearing headbands during a game against the Scott Skiles-coached Chicago Bulls just to taunt their foolish team rule against wearing them? Why hasn't this happened yet?

-Oh, and by the way, the Tribune reports that Baron is gonna be out at least two more games.

97BryantYoung.jpg -The 49ers are working to re-sign DE/DT Bryant Young for next season, which would be his 14th in the NFL. That's a smart play by the Niners, considering B.Y. only has about four or five years left in him. We kid, but this is wonderful; no one would have expected this honorable man to recover his career so emphatically after his horrific broken leg injury in 1998. He received the NFL Comeback Player Of The Year award in 1999, and has been a rock on the defensive line for San Francisco ever since. He has received the 49ers' Len Eshmont award a staggering seven times, including this season. The team bestows the Eshmont based on "inspirational and courageous play." No other player even has three since the award's inception in 1957.
