Hey, Kevin -- Marisa was not initally so impressive to me as presented in the context of the show. Particularly "Lycheegate", where the show made her actions look rather poor. To quote myself:

"[I] had a big problem with her, even more so than Otto. The lychee was for Marisa's dish; she, in effect, was the manager of that project and could only really stand on high moral ground if she'd spoken up at the start and stopped Otto in his tracks right then. Her silence after his comment was akin to implied support. She's a hypocrite in our eyes in this situation."

However, she came off much, much better in her post-show interview, available as an audio file at CHOW.com . . .

What do you think for local girl Marisa from Ame? Did she make a good showing for SF? (from Kevin at TasteTV.com)

They need to stop worrying about picking photogenic chefs to be on the show and start picking talented ones. I think that's half the problem - there wasn't one cheftestant this season who was half as nerdy and unattractive as Wylie Dufresne of WD-50 fame.

And, not surprisingly, there wasn't anyone even as half as talented as Wylie either.

I don't think they're necessarily coming back to SF. The ads on Craigslist are open calls for casting, which they are doing in several major cities. There's one for L.A. too.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go to Las Vegas next time, and would love to see them do New York. I think they may stick to California though, because they shoot so far ahead of when they air, they cook out of season, and California is probably the only place where they could swing that ... but they could probably do Vegas too.

I still hate Ilan and his boring food. Boo! Sam was robbed.
