SFist Blotter
Remember the case we told you about last Friday, about the guy who killed someone with a mechanical robot dog? Well, the judge in the case (at left) got hit by a light-rail outside the San Jose federal courthouse yesterday around lunchtime. The judge was taken to the hospital but is reported to be okay enough to keep presiding over the trial.
There's a strange situation involving the Peninsula Humane Society. A man's black lab was impounded for biting a 5-year-old on the face. The lab was deemed vicious and ordered to be euthanized. About a month into a 60-day deadline to appeal the euthanasia order, the Humane Society discovered the dog had been stolen. The man says he thinks the Humane Society went ahead and euthanized the dog without permission. While the Humane Society won't comment about whether they think the owner stole the dog back himself, they did report that owners have tried to do this in the past, and they've stopped by both the owner and his family members' houses to see if they've got the dog. The owner says “If I’d known all this was going to happened I would have taken the dog and took off." Hmmm.
And in your SF violent crime recap from yesterday: a 17-year-old was shot in SF in broad daylight yesterday, at Laguna and Eddy Street, and a man was stabbed on Market and 5th around 9 a.m.
