I Only Want 2 See U in the Purple Rain
It's always a funny thing in California in that it's good when it rains despite the fact that everyone hates when it rains. Take this winter. We haven't had that much rain and there's been all this worry about their not being enough water for our reservoirs and Tahoe's economy and dear God, it's the beginning of the global warming end! But on the other hand, we don't think there's many of you who've been thinking to themselves "gosh darnit, I really miss a good rainstorm. Why can't it rain more?"
Well, the good news for those of you who like rain is that we're about to get pummelled by a bunch of storms, starting possibly tonight. In fact, February is looking like it's going to be a pretty wet month. While a lot of you are probably thinking "oh great," this is considered great news for people who worry about such things. In fact, the Chron quotes a forecaster at the National Weather Service in Monterey who says, "it could be a fabulous February. This could give us all the rain we need." Great. So to you, Mr. Steve Anderson, here's hoping you get caught in a rain storm somewhere out there and for your umbrella to be ripped to shreds by the twenty mile per hour winds and so you have nothing to do but get soaked so much you catch a nasty cold. Wait, that's not very nice.
According to the weather folks, we're going to hit by storm after storm for the next five days. The worst of it is supposed to hit on Thursday. We would give you the weatheralogical conditions that are causing all that but, really, does anyone care?
As an addendum, we'd also like say this: Prince's halftime show? Best. Halftime. Show. Ever.

Are your nuts??!!
I LOVE rain. My partner loves rain. We both think the last 5 wks have sucked b/c we are supposed to be enjoying a few storms this time of year. What better way to enjoy hanging out in your favorite coffee shop? It sure beats listening to some fool using Cafe Velo Rouge as his own personal office as he yaks away loudly on sales call after sales call as he "sips" his coffee and hogs the couch. What an ass. Use your own damn office or home.
I love walking in the rain - as long as I'm headed home so I can get warm again.
I really hate people who carry those ridiculous umbrellas that you have to duck, or people that hit you with umbrellas and don't say sorry. Is it me or has umbrella etiquette gotten significantly worse since pre-internet boom days?
ditto on the halftime show. Nearly brought a tear to my eye. Oh wait, maybe that was preemptive rainstorming.
Seriously - is there anyone out there who doesn't love a solid rainstorm, provided you're indoors? I find this area to be oppressively sunny. All that pressure to enjoy the day outside rather than curl up on the couch with a good book or the crossword puzzle . . . When I heard thunder the other day for the first time in 9 months, it made me unreasonably happy.
Amen, Kasey!
Bring on the rain, baby.
I ain't afraid.
