Noise Pop announced their full line-up this week and it has us feeling a little dizzy with excitement. The fest's 15th anniversary kicks off on February 27th with a free Opening Night Event (lineup TBA), followed by highlights including Sebadoh performing with their original lineup and Roky Erickson of 13th Floor Elevators' first Bay Area show in 25 years. Read all about the events and performances and get your all-fest badge while they're still available.
Speaking of an embarrassment of riches, this week's show offerings have us feeling like there's not enough time in the day. In addition to the regular nightly shows going on around town, there are multi-night happenings as well. The San Francisco Bluegrass and Old-Time Festival starts tonight and runs in venues throughout the city through February 10th. Check out their website for the full lineup. And Of Montreal is all over the city this week. They've sold out three shows so far (Thursday at Bottom of the Hill and Friday and Saturday at Great American), but as of this posting there were still tickets left for Sunday night at Great American.
Tonight we're wishing we could be in about five places at once. Head to Amoeba at 6pm to see a free set by singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith, then catch his full show later at Great American with opener Annie Stela. Later on, the Rickshaw Stop's got Sensations, Hiss Golden Messenger, and the sunny melodic pop of Seattle's Central Services. We think "Hiss Golden Messenger" is kind of a terrible name, but the description has us entranced: "New band by MC Taylor (of The Court & Spark) that sounds like Bare Trees-era Fleetwood Mac with maybe a bit of the Staple Singers". Say no more! We are so there. Also tonight the Trainwreck Riders take over the tiny stage at Thee Parkside and over at Make-Out Room singer-songwriter Tom Brosseau plays with the lovely and talented must-see Mariee Sioux. Popscene presents Oakland's own Maldroid at 330 Ritch. Check out their very cool video for "He Said, She Said" and tell us if we're wrong for thinking that the song has a Cake/Smashmouth sort of thing going on.

On Friday, the Hemlock's got Wet Confetti, The Fucking Ocean and Fierce Antler. We liked what we heard on Portland's Wet Confetti's website -- female-fronted guitar-driven art-rock -- and Fierce Antler sounds like good, grinding bad-mood music. Catch The New Trust with Polar Bears and Des Ark at Bottom of the Hill. The singer of Santa Rosa's The New Trust kind of sounds like Linkin Park's Chester Beddingfield and, believe it or not, we mean that in a good way.

On Saturday, M. Ward plays the first of two solo performances at Bimbo's with Victoria Williams. Popscene presents Leisure's two year anniversary with Britpop karaoke and This Charming Band at Annie's Social Club. On Superbowl Sunday, 12 Galaxies is throwing their 4th Annual Super Bowl Sunday Party with free admission and drink specials, and over at Thee Parkside Absolute Music presents free Super Bowl Sunday Twang with Merle Jagger at 5pm.
On Monday, Merge Records artists The Broken West play some tambourine and Rhodes-filled feel-good music at Cafe Du Nord with opener Brittany Shane. On Tuesday, Lily Allen's show at Great American is already sold out. On Wednesday The Roots play the first of two nights at The Fillmore and at The Hemlock's got the Brooklyn-based trio Demander. After seeing Demander's press photos, we wondered if they sound as hot as they look. The three songs we previewed on their MySpace were pretty varied, but we liked the sound of "Hollis". Watch Demander's animated video for "Hollis" and decide for yourself:
