It's Got to Be the Morning After

We were watching all the ESPN gab-fest shows yesterday and every single reporter on every single show ripped the Giants for all things Barry. We know it doesn't matter in the long run, but we do not like it when our favorite baseball team is ripped to shreds. Needless to say, the whole Barry thing is just leaving bad tastes all around. So much so, Magowan himself sent out a letter to all season ticket holders saying that mistakes were made in the past, but this time they really, really are trying harder but they really had no choice to do what they did. As El Lefty put it, the team’s slogan this year should be: Your 2007 San Francisco Giants: Savor the Grim Inevitability!

According to the new contract, if the Barry is indicted, the Giants can terminate his contract. Which will cause the usual spats with the player's union and Bonds' agent says those clauses don't really mean anything. Bud, meanwhile, is not very happy with it and hemming and hawing over giving his approval to the thing. Bonds himself said there was no conflict at all about the two-month process it took to sign him and that it was all no big deal. As for the Giants, they're doing some spinning of their own.

-The Betting Fool let's his readers have their say on the Bonds' signing. Monte Poole, however, thinks the Giants had no choice but to sign Bonds.

-Lane Kiffin shakes things up by getting rid of a bunch of people with more experience than him.

-The Warriors start off their long road trip by being throttled by the LeBron-less Cavs, 124-97. Baron Davis isn't happy about it either and Golden State of Mind wonders just how bad it would have been if LeBron did play.

-Sharks lose in a penalty shootout to Dallas, 3-2.

-And there's even more speculation on Tedford's future with Cal in light of all the problems with the new training center.
