Hot Stuff: Food Section Round Up
We gobble the various food sections up each Wednesday. These are our favorite tidbits from today's offerings:
SF Chronicle: Restaurant report: are there rats, cockroaches, and unclean hands at your favorite spots? Food safety scores allow customers to find out online (tho not widely used) and in person if restaurant workers are working safely with and around food.
We like the mention of an employee dipping his hands in broth and wiping them on an apron. And that would be cleaning them how?!? Guac on the tasty side during your Super Bowl party. We're excited that avocados from three areas will be available, soon.
Contra Costa ( CoCo ) Times: Football Eats like Cowboy Caviar, chicken wings, and beef hoagies sound hearty and event appropriate. More app ideas.
San Jose Mercury News: Who let the dogs out? Chicago style (hot) dogs "washed down with cheap beer"? We never partake in cheap beer (let's leave the college years where they belong, in the past). However, the world is a diverse place, so who are we to snicker at others' lack of taste? Coffee can cooked corn sounds unusual and like a good BBQ party trick.
Oakland Tribune: Meatballs served many ways. A recipe with the word saucy in the title will always get our attention. Hearty meals go well with Zin.
