Shootings in Lower Haight

We've gotten several e-mails about a shooting in Lower Haight, around 9:30 or so this morning on Webster Street between Page and Haight. We don't know much of the details but we do know there was a lot of police in the area and a bus was pulled over, probably to see if there were any eyewitnesses.

This is the second shooting in the Lower Haight in the past couple of weeks and second shooting in a row that took place in the morning. Yes, that's right, people are shooting people in the morning. Talk about brazen-- we can barely put together a couple of coherent sentences on a blog in the morning yet there's people going around and doing gang style hits. It's kind of scary, actually, not just because it means some people in some neighborhoods now have to be cautious in the morning as well as night, but that people who do shootings are so confident that they'll get away with it that they're doing this stuff in the morning, in front of people. We mean, people on a bus possibly saw all of this.

Tonight at 7, there is a meeting scheduled at the Hamilton Square Baptist Church at Oak and Steiner to discuss the recent shootings in the Haight. The meeting was already planned but now it appears that it's even more needed.
