SFist Blotter

bartshooting.JPGIf you, like us, heard very stressed-out-sounding BART announcements on your commute home today about the Hayward BART station being closed because of a police action and needing to take Richmond trains to get to Fremont last night, that's because four people were shot in the area of the Hayward BART stop around 5:48 p.m. No one is dead, but one person was found injured on a platform and another in a bus zone (we don't know where the third one was). The station was closed and BART trains were allowed to go through but not stop, as the police cordoned off the area. They found one possible suspect in a nearby housing complex and took him into custody.

Since we've pointed out the SFPD's low clearance rate on murders numerous times, it seems only fair to point out when they do clear a homicide -- the SFPD has arrested a East Bay teenager in the stabbing of a 20-year-old in the Western Addition over the weekend.

And a Fremont car dealership is no doubt a little irritated after a guy signed up to test-drive one of their 2000 Daewoos, and then never brought it back. When they called his house to find out where he was, they got his wife, who said that the two of them had gotten in an argument that morning and he got so mad he decided to steal the dealer car. What could they possibly have been arguing about to precipitate the theft of a Daewoo? Anyways, the man left a photocopy of his driver's license with the dealership, and the Daewoo in question is white, with the license plate 4MCD565. Call the Fremont police at (510) 790-6900 if you see it.

We had another homicide at 401 Haight around 9:15 this morning. The victim is a black female. This is about 100 feet from the double homicide on the 14th.

Not coincidentally, there is a neighborhood meeting tonight at 7 pm at the Friendship Church at Oak and Steiner. The city will announce the arrest of all the crack dealers, the DA will announce their prosecution, and the SFHA will announce the eviction of the people dealing crack from their units and the installation of security cameras to manage their property in a way similar to those of us who pay taxes.

Now it looks like the homicide is unconfirmed. The SFPD won't tell me anything.

This shooting was on the exact site where city officials held a press conference last Fall promising safe trips to school for children going to Muir Elementary one block away.

This thing won't anchor tags unless the url is quoted.
