SFist On TV on YouTube

So thanks to GavinWatch, today's big I-Team story on SFistgate has now officially been YouTubed and is that officially a verb yet? What part of the story did we love the most? Was it Dan Noyes having to follow Gavin into the elevator to ask him a question? The on-screen listings of all the various times Peter posted comments on SFist? Or was it the fact that Noyes spent all day Monday calling every John Nelson in the phone book to see if they knew Peter "Byorn" Ragone. Either way, the story was great fun in all of its I-Team awesomeness.

If you want more, you can also read the full clip of Dan's interview with Professor of Journalism Yumi Wilson here. And Dan's blog posting on the subject here.

Note to self: next time we appear on TV, try and do a better job shaving and don't wear so much dark clothing. All we can say is we really hope that was the camera that added the ten pounds and not all those burritos we eat.

Whoo yay congratulations SFist and Jon! I love that Rita was mentioned on the news in the context of "This Rita chick is kind of weird."

Now, can someone get to work identifying the crazy sock puppet commenting on my Stuart Sunshine article?

ha ha jon u look great!!

Wow! That video is a rare instance of watching local TV news do the people's work. Newsom's using Bushite tactics and undemocratic ethics...to what effect? It's sad ("sad, sad") that an earnest, well-intentioned mayor (with whom I disagree plenty) feels he must depend on dirty pool.

Dan Noyes kind of reminds me of Arboghast, the private detective in "Psycho".

You did SFist proud, Jon. I was dying laughing when the I-team asked Ragone if he ever uses different names when making comments. He looked so ridiculous and stern in response.

The one thing they could've explained is who Rita is. If people have never read SFist, they may have been confused by seeing her name but no explanation that she was the author of some of the pieces Ragone commented on.

I predict the Mayor will give him walking papers only if he gets a lot of negative chat regarding these incidents.

Hilarious.

They've got the same sort of arrogance/ineptitude of Gray Davis' tenure as Guv.

Like, "We're in power, we've got power, we aren't doing much with it, who're YOU to ask me questions? We don't have any real competitors!"

Arboghast?

Sounds like the name for a level-ending boss in a video game. You think you've won? Now you must face... The Arboghast! [roar]"

I didn't know journalism and politics had such a dirty side...Can't we all just get along? Answer each others answers honestly and peacefully...

I'm guessing not.

Brillant! Nice work Jon! Is it weird that I sort of have a crush on Dan Noyes now?

Mr. Mayor, please fire that lying incompotent closeted homosexual, Ragone!

"closeted homosexual"?

Have we really descended to this in the SFist comments discourse? I don't actually know how to respond. Being homosexual, even closeted, means nothing in regards to this story. But I am sensing the phrase was meant to be an insult from its context. I'm tempted to ask for clarification, but then again, maybe I don't even want to know.

Lying and incompetence are probably no basis for termination from Mayor Newsom's administration. But we'll have to see whether this is the case in the coming weeks.

That report was so good!
